12/17/2004 02:00:07 PM|||Shep|||League sources have told Give Me The Rock that the Grizzlies are talking about sending out-of-favor point guard Jason Williams to LA, along with Ryan Humphrey, for Kerry Kittles and his large expiring contract.
Okay, that's not entirely true. But since certain other columnists feel that they have the right to simply create trade rumors, why can't I?
Before you dismiss me out of hand, let's take a look at these two teams...
As Bill Simmons points out, the Clippers need a point guard. Memphis has been doing pretty well with Earl Watson running the point, and there are other rumors that Fratello wants to be rid of J-Will. So, wouldn't this actually seem like a good time to trade him to the Clippers? Memphis could probably work it so they get Kerry Kittles expiring contract back in exchange for J-Will and another role player. They'd also then have Kittles to work with, instead of 2 players they don't need.
In the mean time, J-Will would actually be useful in helping the Clippers continue their dream season. They might even make the playoffs this year, something the Grizzlies aren't likely to do. Jerry West should stop sniffing around Chicago (now that I'm happy with the Bulls keeping Eddy Curry), and go talk Elgin Baylor into continuing to improve his team.
Now that I've had the rock, you take it... pass it around... spread it like wildfire! Especially you Clippers fans!
Update: If you post this trade rumor on your basketball/sports related blog, I'll send you a Gmail invite.
If you don't need a Gmail invite, just post the rumor anyway. It's time we take some "creationism" power away from the sports writers who think they're the only ones who can make this stuff up. Maybe then they'll actually report on real trade rumors.
Count it.
