"Vince Carter of the Toronto Raptors was placed on the injured list with a strained left Achilles' tendon Friday and will miss at least five games.

Carter was hurt in the first minute of the second half in Toronto's 90-86 overtime loss at Detroit on Wednesday.

'It's just something that's been bothering me for three years,' Carter said. 'I want to let it settle down and get better instead of having it nag me.'"

Fantasy Impact

Expect Donyell Marshall too continue to make the most of Carter's abscence. His minutes haven't increased much since Carter's latest injury, but his shot attempts and points have been above their normal levels. His rebounding has also increased in the month of December.

Fanball and Stats Inc say that Mo-Pete will replace Carter in the starting lineup until at least Dec. 20th. Perhaps Peterson will use the opportunity to step his game up. In their game against Denver last night, he played 32 minutes, and got 10 points (above his season avg), 6 rebounds (above season avg), on 45% shooting. He also had 3 TO's and 2 steals.

Lamond Murray has also been getting more minutes, and had a good game on Friday as well, with 16 pts, 6 rebs, 2 asts, 1 three-pointer, and 2 steals, on 50% FG shooting and 75% from the line.

Count it.
