Yahoo! Sports - NBA - Pau Gasol: "Jan 25 According to Memphis Grizzlies head coach Mike Fratello, Gasol could miss at least two weeks with an undisclosed left foot injury. As a result, the forward, who is the team's leading scorer and rebounder this season, has been placed on the injured list for the first time in his four-year NBA career. Ryan Humphrey was activated to fill the void on the roster."

Stromile Swift likely will step into the starting lineup during Gasol's absence. Too bad for a friend of mine who needed Swift's extra output last week when he lost by 5 points at Center in my AOL league. (Combine that with Kobe's injury, and Amare's subpar performance due to Steve Nash's injury, and that same friend went 0-4 last week. Ouch.) Gasol's injury also opens up time for Brian Cardinal, who has not quite been doing what he does... or is supposed to do. Last time Gasol was out, Cardinal played 22, 31, and 35 minutes and did a little bit more of what he's supposed to do. I wouldn't say he's a must have, but if you've got someone averaging less than 9, 6, and 2 and need a Forward with a good FT% and the capability of hitting 3's, then he's your man until Gasol gets back.

In 39 games this season, Gasol has averaged 18.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 blocked shots in 33.9 minutes per contest. Swift clocks in at 9.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 0.7 assists 0.5 steals and 1.8 block shots in 21 minutes per game.
