Now, who’s hot who not?
Tell me who rock?
who sell out in the stores?
You tell me who flopped
who copped the blue drop
Who jewels got robbed?
who’s mostly Goldie down
to the tube sock?
the same ol pimp
[Nels], you know ain’t nuttin change but my limp
Can’t stop till I see my name on a blimp
Guarantee a million [points] pullin all the love

Okay, that was way too long an intro for this piece… I’ll keep it shorter from now on…

In the Hot or Not column, I’m trying to pick out players that are Ballin Outta Control (BOC), and guys who should be picking their game up. I wouldn’t try to trade for the BOCers cause they’re probably overvalued since they’re so on fire. The guys who are looking like the frozen cavemen (FC) are better trade candidates since they just need to step it up and they will prove their worth.

Of course, the other side of the coin (OS) is players that people didn’t expect to be tearing it up who are now doing so. These might be better trade candidates since people won’t think they can keep it, or perhaps they’re still hanging on by a waiver wire, from which you can save them (and as a result, your team). The other side of the Cold Coin is the players who should be playing more, but aren’t (PT).

I’d make a grid or something, but I’m too lazy… I guess it boils down to:

BOC = Won’t keep it up.
FC = Should heat up.
OS = Surprising… see if you can buy low.
PT = Good time to buy low. These guys should blow up.
??? = These guys are hot or cold, and could sink or swim… but it’s anyone’s guess

Who’s Hot?

TJ Ford (BOC)
Delonte West (BOC)
Michael Redd (???)
Chris Webber (BOC)
Sam Cassell (BOC)
Darius Miles (OS)
Andrew Bogut (OS)
Chris Duhon (OS)

Who’s Not?

Kyle Korver (FC)
Mike Bibby (FC)
Al Jefferson (???)
Travis Outlaw (PT)

And finally… ouch:
