So, yes… Shaq is Baq. For the time being at least.
That’s all well and good. But the real question is: Where the H E Double Hockey Sticks did Miami get throwback jerseys from????
Side note: It looks like they had someone from South Beach design those jerseys. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I am unfortunately sure it’s a marketing ploy by the Heat and the Association to sell more of those O’Neal and Wade jerseys… but I don’t think that such a thinly veiled attempt at cashing in has even been seen before in the league. Can anyone think of one? (I’m looking for thinly veiled… not the blatantly obvious marketing that usually assaults everyone everywhere across the country) I can see that offering throwbacks for the Hornets would be fairly crass at this point in time, but the Magic, Timberwolves are not offering “Retro” jerseys… I mean, the Magic and Wolves at least have a somewhat legitimate claims on having retro jerseys (if Early 90’s is retro). The Heat, though, haven’t they always had the same jersey?
Finally, does anyone from Miami have reliable information as to whether the fans are actually buying (as in: buying into) this? (Cause I’m sure they’re buying it)
