Give Me The Rock

this is fantasy basketball

Best. Playoffs. EVER.

See I exist

came out the womb of a phoenix, expect nothin less
then a mature flame, velocity’s my plane, my thought is my train,
the galaxy’s the body, sun is the heart, and the black hole’s the brain
Ridiculoid ft. El-P – Cannibal Ox

Hard A, man.

Let me start with the suspensions… Posey is out, which I’m happy about. The hit he laid on Hinrich was probably the most obvious/dangerous/dirtiest play I’ve ever seen in professional basketball. Then there’s the pending suspensions of Luke Walton and Kwame Brown. I mean, if you’re suspending Haslem for throwing a mouth guard, and Artest for the forearm, Brown, at least, deserves a suspension for chin-checking Diaw to the ground. It’s the playoffs and everything, but not the NHL playoffs. It’s getting a little ridiculoid.

Next up on the hit list. The King himself. While we may all be witnesses, the referees last night missed him walking on water. I’m a little surprised YaySports was actually able to post this morning, but you’ll notice that Brian aka The Cavalier conveniently glosses over the game last night in favor of some self-indulgent book-type idea. I shant say too much more, since I do actually want the Cavs to win, but the fact that Gilbert Arenas (for President 2008), missed a wide-open 3-pointer was pretty incredible.

But in the same breath, the first game-winner in LeBron’s playoff history does serve to make this a “better” playoffs. And yes, I’m sure we’re all witnessing some sort of history here.

Serving to make the playoffs all that much more spectacular was the Kevin Martin shot.

That picture is worth 1,000 of my words.

Henry Abbott is feeling likes it’s the playoffs now too. He’s also wondering – in a similar manner to what I was pondering just yesterday – if LeBron and Kobe aren’t the new Bird and Magic. Since I grew up just past that era, the train of my thought was more along the lines of Jordan and Magic (Google couldn’t find the magazine cover of those two that I remember so well). While I previously declared my love for the Suns, that appears to have been more of an infatuation caused by what is a true love for Ahmad Rashad. As such, my heart has been wandering to visions of Kobe vs. LeBron in the Finals. The way that the Lakers are playing right now makes it seem almost possible for their part. At least until you remember that San Antonio and Dallas are still there.

The way LeBron (and sometimes the rest of the team) is playing right now makes it seem possible for his part. Then there’s the Pistons. KvL appears to be more likely to happen next season, or another season to come…

You (or perhaps just I) will be pleased to recall that the Baby Bulls are only getting older – and a little bit more playoff-experienced. They are like the Pistons Jr. – a hard-working team, and not just a collection of individuals (or a collection around an individual). They are My Team until the Heat (or hopefully the Nets or Pacers) prove them unworthy.

The first round, so far, has been the epitome of Ridiculoid. A couple more last-second shots and it will undoubtedly ascend to the level of Redonkulous.
