So, Nels is halfway to his finals match-up wish. Despite my X-man casting preferences, I’m just happy that the Pistons are out. Pistons as scrappy underdogs taking down the mighty alpha team, I’m cool with that. Pistons as whiny bitches feeling like they’re entitled to a ring – no thanks, I’ll find someone else to root for. But I’m really not on the Miami bandwagon either. One, Pat Riley, is a hell spawn brought to the Earth to rain fire and brimstone down upon us all… or at the very least, evil to the bone. Two, I have never been a Shaq fan (but a fan of Steel, oh yes), and although he’s grown on me a little as he ages, I still hate the way he plays the game. There’s way too much ass in that game for my taste. Third, I don’t know why, but I’m really not on the Dwyane Wade bandwagon either. I can’t explain it, maybe the evilness of Riley inflicts all who come close to him or maybe I just haven’t seen him play enough. I’ll give Wade a pass for now.
So, this year, I think I’ll be rooting for the Mavericks. I’m willing to forget the fact that they’re from Dallas because I’m liking the Avery Johnson coaching experience (I’ve always enjoyed coaches that aren’t hell spawn) and I have an affinity for 7 foot Germans.
Also, you may not have known this pressing information, but apparently, this is the Pistons first game 6 loss in sixteen years. First, who cares? Second, as you may know, the Pistons didn’t play any game 6’s for the first 11 years of that steak. God, I hate when people (broadcasters, mainly) abuse statistics like that. I’m undefeated in game 6’s too, why doesn’t anyone mention that? Maybe I’ll have to put a little more ass in my game.
