Nels has been detained with some important family stuff (been there myself – I missed one of my fantasy drafts last year with an anniversary… dammit), but, like Mario van Peebles, let’s see if I can do this thing solo.

9:02 – White pom-poms, a nice touch by the Dallas crowd. I don’t know if I’d be waving those around. But, again, I don’t do the wave either.

9:10 – Let me go on record by saying that I’m not a fan of the nickname “the JET”. If you’re going to have a crazy ass nickname, like Mamba, you really have to back that up by being the best player on your team. No doubt about that. Terry, while being underrated especially as a fantasy player, really doesn’t have the game to back up “the JET”. I’m totally not feeling it.

9:15 – tip off. Let’s get it on!

9:17 – Let me reiterate – I can’t believe that any team employing Antoine Walker in a significant role can win a championship. He just takes too many bad shots, and makes too many turnovers. Can you tell I’m not a fan?

9:20 – Ok, I’ll admit it, a very nice offensive rebound by Shaq, four guys surrounding him and he still manages to come down with it.

9:21 – Shaq, misses his first free throw. Not a good sign for Nels and his Miami prediction. Shaq better pick it up or we’re going to end up with a Game 1 again.

9:23 – … oh, and he just missed two more. 0 for 3.

9:32 – and “the JET” is getting a rest.

9:33 – Great move by Dirk. A spin to the lane in which he makes the shot and draws the foul. And unlike Miami, he makes the free throw.

9:36 – Jason Williams, fouled as he attempts a layup. I think his stockings might be slowing him down. You definitely have to be a millionaire to pull those off. I won’t be wearing them at my local pickup game.

9:44 – After watching him play live, I can’t believe I actually started Jerry Stackhouse on my fantasy team for a few weeks this past year. He looks horrible. I’m completely embarrassed.

9:49 – After the first – Mavs 18, Heat 17. So far, we’re in for an exciting game that may hit the 70’s. Damn you Pat Riley!

9:54 – Van Horn for 3! And he’s playing Mourning right now! Badly, but that’s not the point!

9:56 – Great drive and dunk by Wade… he’s so very quick. I’m starting to believe.

10:02 – Howard just hits a nice three. He seems like a fairly good playmaker, mostly because he’s so fast, but he seems to make a lot of turnovers. He’ll need to protect the ball a little better if he wants to take his game to the next level.

10:03 – Even worse than a turnover… Howard just tips it into his own basket. I had a friend who did that in a game when we were 11.

10:10 – The JET goes up for a layup and is rejected by Haslem. The refs call a foul, but it looked clean to me.

10:12 – As the crowd stomps their feet (must be a Texas thing) for Dallas, Terry gives it in to Dirk for an easy layup. The Mav are up by 7.

10:18 – Antoine Walker takes another three and misses another three. I’ve seen that before.

10:20 – Wade called for the carry. I would have to say I agree with the call. You can’t do a complete 360 and still hold onto the ball… even in the NBA.

10:21 – Stackhouse just hits the back to back threes (and gets fouled on the last shot)! Ok, I take back what I previously said about Stackhouse for now.

10:23 – And Stackhouse hits the fall-away three as the shot clock expires! Amazing shot. That’s it! I’m taking Stackhouse in the 3rd round next year in my draft

10:25 – Halftime. Dallas is up 50 to 34. I need the break. This live blog thing is intense.

10:45 – Nels, great to have you in. If this were a pickup basketball game, this is the time I would be panting, barely able to stand up straight, and give you the call to replace me. But, let’s see if I can pull my way through this.

10:49 – Terry makes a nice drive to the rim and is fouled.

10:50 – Howard with the second four point play of the game! I’m officially excited!

10:55 – The consensus was that for the Heat to win in game 2, they would have to feed the ball into Shaq and let their game go from there. Well, the Dallas double team is working amazing well, keeping Shaq from using that ass to drive to the lane. Shaq appears to be passing through the lane and out to the guards quite well, but the rest of the Heat just can’t hit their shots.

10:59 – I just realized Nels and I are keeping time differently; me with my clock and Nels with game time. Be aware, this might get confusing. By the way, I did have a few beers during this game.

11:00 – Dirk hits the jumper and the Mavs are up by 21. I have to go to work tomorrow – what they hell am I doing up?

11:01 – Stackhouse just hits the alleyoop, VC might be right, I think I might have pissed off Stackhouse.

11:06 – Terry just hits the 3, and this is getting embarrassing. The Mavs are up by 26.

11:09 – Nels, I got to say that I like your strategy. Obviously, Shaq is getting double teamed every time he touches the ball, so letting Wade lead the offense (previous traveling violation not withstanding) is probably a positive for the Heat. If the Mavs start to collapse or double Wade, Shaq can definitely still handle himself one-on-one.

11:15 – Yes – those identity theft commercials suck. How many actual valley girls out there are actually stealing people’s identities?

11:17 – Stackhouse with another three! I’m so sorry my man – you are so on my fantasy team next year!

11:21 – As Wade misses the jumper, the Mavs are up 82 to 60, and I’m about to call it a night. I have a new found respect for the ESPN SportsGuy… this live blog thing is hella work. Trying to type and watch the game at the same time is a lot of work. If the Heat can actually win this game, then I’ll eat my own underwear, or some crazy shit like that. I promise. Peace.

Heat down by 16 at halftime. Your comment must have really annoyed Stackhouse, he just hit back to back 3′s.
