Check out this post I did last year today on Small-ball vs. Big-ball. Always good advice for new fantasy basketball managers.

Longtime fan of Givemetherock. I’m a little stuck with fantasy basketball. I’m in a 8 team league, 19 player roster. Andrew Bogut is out for a few weeks into the season so i was wondering what a good bigman pickup would be. I was thinking Mcdyess, Nazr, or Elson. Any advice?

I’d go with Nazr if those are the 3 choices. McDyess is probably the better player, but since Nazr is the starter, he’ll probably get more minutes than Nazr. Elson’s per 40 averages aren’t a good as either of the other two. He will probably also get more minutes than McDyess, but probably won’t do as much as Nazr with those minutes. McDyess’ FT% is also not as good as Nazr’s, so he if that helps you out, then he becomes a clearer choice.

Other centers who might still be available and are worth considering: David Harrison, Jake Tsakalidis, Chris Mihm, Robert Swift.
