I am off work again today, so here is the daily seven, not because it’s a daily occurrence, but because i have the time!

- Mavericks young-gun Devin Harris put up a forgettable statline last evening; 1pt, 3rbs, 4asts on 0-6 shooting. I like Devin Harris, i have watched over 100 Mavs games since his inception as a fresh-faced, emaciated rookie from Wisconsin. As a fantasy player however, i feel he is overvalued and not a consistent option. For starters, Harris can not shoot. I used the phrase ‘young-gun’ before, because if the Mavericks were ‘the Regulators’ then Devin Harris would be Casey Siemaszko. Kind of erratic, but he shows up when you need him and he takes care of business. Unfortunately for us, ‘taking care of business’ is not a fantasy stat, BTO would be a first round pick if it were. Harris does not score points unless he uses his Barbosa Jr. speed to get to the hole for some layups. Also, note that he is pretty much rendered impotent when the Jet is on the court. Starting Harris at SG is a mistake… I say that, but then remember they were starting Greg Buckner at the start of the year. Starting Harris gives them the best chance to win, but idealy I would have him as a sub on this team. Devin Harris will have the potential to be a ‘breakout sleeper’ of a fantasy player for the next few years, but he will never reach that point until he switches teams or the Mavs go back to running their opponents out of the gym.
- As we all sensed pre-season, the Kings are killing the possibility of a big time fantasy producer in both the Sheriff and Kenny Thomas. SAR is well below most of his career averages and is being smothered by Kenny Thomas’ enthusiasm and hustle. Let’s face it, SAR has no drive, he had no problems spending a decade on the worst teams in the league and now has no problems wasting away behind someone who has less talent but more motivation.
- Remember my talk about Marcus Williams? Well my dreams of seeing him play a full time regiment were fulfilled last night in the double overtime battle in Phoenix; 18 points and 5 assists while making 8 of 11 shots. Imagine Marcus on the Las Vegas Blazers, full playing time every night. Can i anoint him as one of my boys without having him on my fantasy team? Though if he came over i would have to hide my laptops. As one of my boys, he would join a Parthenon that includes Keith Van Horn, Udonis Haslem and Bob Saget, i love that guy.

- Shawn Marion played 49 minutes last night. He set a new NBA record for most minutes played in a single game without dribbling. This goes on his mantle next to his award for last years record breaking season of going a whole year without dribbling. Check it out, not a single piece of proof that he can dribble.
- I think i am the only person in the nation who is watching the playing time of Marcus Banks? He has seen under six minutes of playing time in the last four games, including last night’s 2OT epic. Four minutes out of a possible 58. This playing time is indicative of how Mike D’Antoni is a great coach and he is getting better, i will write about this more later though.
- Last night’s game also pitted the return of last years Sun Eddie House against his old team. The never afraid to shoot House played 31 minutes last night and scored 12 points on five shots. Wait…….. five shots? Eddie House, 30+ minutes and five shots!?!? For the record, Eddie House has played over 30 minutes 35 times in his career. In those games the lowest number of shot attempts he had taken was 9, done twice. If you lead an Eddie House to a basketball court you do not have to worry about making him shoot. Eddie is coming off an injury and must feel awkward on the court with his new teammates. Though shooting is not something you need to have teammates for, so i am stumped on how this happened. By the way, the following picture is amazing, i wish every game and player had that much emotion. Pair the emotion with the sweet coloring of the accessories and it is viewing paradise.

- The final point, is Miki Moore beginning to cut in on Nenad Kristic‘s playing time? More on that in the coming weeks.
