As reported in The Oklahoman:

Hornets forward Peja Stojakovic, who underwent back surgery in Oklahoma City on Sunday, is expected to miss “a big portion of the season,” likely a few months, according to Hornets coach Byron Scott.

“He’s going to miss a big portion of the season, it’s no doubt about that,” Scott said of Stojakovic. “David, I have no clue. Two to eight weeks, that’s a big cloud. But with Peja, anytime you’re dealing with a back, you’re talking about a couple of months or more. I don’t know where he’ll be when all that’s said and done or how close he’ll be to playing shape and ready to get back on the court.”

I’ve already dropped Stojakovic for Rasual Butler in my league, although I’m holding West for now (I’ve made it this far already), basically until I hear more info. Eight weeks is completely different than two, so I’ll be curious to get additional updates about West.

Butler becomes an immediate add in almost every league as it looks like he’ll average 35+ minutes for the rest of the year. As a starter this season he’s averaging 16.7/4 with 2.3 threes a game. Unfortunately, West’s minutes are being filled by the likes of Marc Jackson, Linton Johnson, and Cedric Simmons. Ugh. If you’ve made it this far with West on your bench, looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer.
