NBA.com has just released results of their rookie survey, which includes 10 questions from 44 rooks about who will be the rookie of the year, who will be great in other ways, and the guy they are most looking forward to playing against (Kobe Bryant). Some of the more interesting results:

    • Kevin Durant is the runaway winner for rookie of the year, with over half the vote (54%). Oden is second at 12%.
    • Al Hortford gets the most votes for “ready to contribute right away,” which makes my Hawks preview look smart. But here’s the thing I don’t get. Kevin Durant wins the rookie of the year vote in a runaway. Shouldn’t the rookie of the year really be the most ready to contribute? Durant is being predicted to have the most successful rookie year, why wouldn’t he be the most ready to contribute? It all confuses me.
    • Durant also beats out Oden for who is going to appear in the most all-star games in their career (56% to 33%). The most surprising thing about that vote? That Mike Conley, Joakim Noah, Al Thornton, Yi Jianlian, and Nick Young received one vote apiece. Maybe they voted for themselves. Maybe Oden voted for Mike Conley.
    • Two questions that may have fantasy relevance if you believe in the wisdom of the crowd? The most overlooked was Nick Young and the best playmaker was Mike Conley. I’m no NCAA expert, so if their peers are voting them up, I’m going to pay some attention. We’ll get to Nick Young and his over-look-ed-ness once GMTR makes it to the Wizards team preview.
