Line of the Night: Steve Nash (10.7). Although triple doubles get me excited, I’m going strictly by the game score here. LeBron James (6.6) got a triple double with room to spare (32 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists – that’s how a real man does it), but his percentages still leave a lot to be desired. Nash scored 34 with 7 threes, 11 assists and 5 rebounds and he was able to do it much more efficiently than Lebron. Both the Suns and the Cavs lost, however, which leads me to make this wild out-of-my-ass assumption: Every time Nash leads the Suns in shots taken, they lose.

Honorable Mentions: James, Josh Smith (8.9), Kevin Garnett (7.9), Hedo Turkoglu (6.7).

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Sam Cassell (7.7). The tank is not on E quite yet. Cassell led the Clips to a win over the Pacers with 35 points, 8 assists and a couple of threes and steals. Plus, it led to this great quote about Cassell (from the AP recap): “He’s older than dirt, but he gets it done,” Clippers center Chris Kaman joked. “He can still shoot the basketball.” Tread lightly Chris Kaman. Tread lightly.

Goat of the Night: Peja Stojakovic (-5.8) – 5 points on 2 for 13 from the field, 2 rebounds and no assists. We celebrate their achievements zeal and then rip them down hard the minute they stop performing. Peja your 10 threes are so yesterday, in fact, I barely remember it happening. What have you done for us lately?

i am looking for assists, and i was looking at steve blake. he seems to offer a good amount of assists (>8apg)
however, i think he might share minutes with jarret jack and not sure about that either. what do u think?

also, do u think marvin williams is worth a pickup? do u think he can put up consistent numbers? hes just pts and boards right? thanks again

Personally, I’d stay away from Blake. He’ll give you some assists, but by splitting time with Jarrett Jack he’s not going to be playing enough to get you anything else. Jack had a great game last night, so Blake might not even be starting that much longer.

If you’re looking for assists, I actually like Jarrett Jack over Blake if he’s available. There’s also Jason Williams or Jose Calderon. Or you could really take a risk with Kyle Lowry.

The best idea might be to see if you can get Kirk Hinrich on the cheap from whoever owns him in your league. As Nels wrote last night, people are starting to panic about his slow start, but he’s going to be fine.

As for Marvin Williams. Yes, totally worth a pick up.

Also, Earl Watson is rumored to be on the verge of losing his starting job, which could mean Luke Ridnour has some value soon. I wouldn’t pick him up now, but keep an eye on the situation.

I’m with Patrick on Jose Calderon, and I’m also not sold on Steve Blake. He’s got good runs in him, but he’s not going to be consistent enough. And the Blazers are still a team in flux.

I also agree about Marvin Williams. Wish I’d been fast enough to pick him up.

is tayshaun prince even worth a roster spot? i have no idea why but he always comes up on my team year after year?

jameer nelson or francisco garcia? i read artest is coming back nov 14 and that might cut into garcia’s time. however, nelson starts but is 4th option on the team behind rashad, dwight, and hedo. thanks again guys

Prince is definitely worth a roster spot. He’s at 42/43 on the GMTR Player Raters, and only down to 70 on NBA.com’s FSPI. Unless you’re in a league with less than 70 players involved (a 10-team league with 7 players on each team?), then he should be on someone’s team. If you don’t want him, you should be able to trade him for someone in the 40-70 range.

I’d stick with Jameer over Garcia. He may be the 4th option, but he’ll be playing 30 minutes a game all season, while Garcia will go back to about 20 minutes a game when Artest and Bibby are both back. When those two are back, Garcia won’t be any higher than the 4th option, if even that.
