Line of the Night: Chris Paul (5.71). Yes, somehow, Chris Paul’s line last night was the actually statistically the best of the night. I guess by not shooting any free throws, he didn’t hurt anyone’s FT%…

If we were voting (or something like that), I’d go with Kobe – who did check in at #2 (5.63) – and his 30 points on 11/23 and 6/6 with 2 threes, 8 rebs, 5 assists, a steal and a block.

Another factor that is probably throwing off the statistical analysis: All the stats are weighted against each other every night, so some accomplishments don’t look that great in the eyes of the computer. Like somehow, Dwight Howard’s 13/16 from the stripe only earned him 1.67 points for that category (it’s on a 0 to 10 scale). His 16 rebounds did earn him a 10, though. In comparison, Chris Paul’s 0/0 from the line, got him 6.57 points. Methinks there needs to be a check for DIV/0.

Honorable Mentions: Kevin Garnett (5.62), LeBron James (5.57), and bunch of the other usual suspects. It’s hard to honorably mention everyone who had a great game last night because it seems like pretty much everyone who played was BOC.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Bionic Woman. Seriously, did you see that double jump she did to get up to the box seats area? And the running in high heel boots?

Boobie Gibson might still be available, and he’s been dropping threes and getting 2-3 assists a game pretty consistently now. His perfection from the field and the line last night netted him 28th overall for the night with a 4.29. Yes, that was somehow better than Joe Johnson’s 34 on 11/18 and 10/11 with 2 threes, 10 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal (which only got him a 4.27). But, if you’re like my GMTR Reader’s League team and you’ve got Eddie House and Jose Calderon stinking up your lineup, Gibson might be worth a look.

Goat of the Night: NBA.com’s web site. I’m trying to use it right now to figure out the Goat of the Night and all it wants to give me is Javascript errors and lines about Player Not Found. You can’t find Kobe Bryant? Really? The best player in the NBA cannot be found? Really, NBA.com? Really? Well, how about you tell me about Dwight Howard? I hear he had a good game. No? Really? You really don’t want to tell me about a rising superstar in your league? Really? I mean, really? Okay, I just need a Goat of the Night. Take me the last page.

//form functions function pre_formSubmit() { //all form variables are done! /*

Really? All form variables are done? Really? Are you sure? I don’t see much of anything. Are you really sure they’re done? Really?

How about Rashad McCants as Waiver Wire Line of the Night? Unless he’s not considered a waiver wire guy anymore, which I guess he really shouldn’t be, then understood. I mainly just need to tout his game last night. I’ve had him on most of my rosters since the Ricky Davis trade went down. The guy went off last night, and he’s legit. I like to compare him to Ben Gordon, who scores, gets a lot of 3s, decent FG%, but not a whole lot otherwise (although Gordon was pulling down some good rebounds until his last 2 games where he didn’t even play 30 minutes in either game). I’ll take McCants’ 4 rbs, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1 blk if it’s coming with 33 points and a few 3s.

And I need to chime in on Goat of the Night…How about Iguodala going 2-15 from the floor, only getting to the line once, and no steals. The 6 rbs and 7 ast were nice, but otherwise, he was a big-time goat. Or how about Jamison going 3-11 with 5 rbs, 0 ast, and not getting to the line once?

  • Joey

what do you guys think about these two situations:

    1. Did Maxiell’s performance last night gave Flip Saunders a reason to bring McDyess off the bench again?

    2. Word is that Nocioni will start tonight, probably at the 4 for Tyrus Thomas, or the 3 while Deng moves down to the 2. Should Nocioni receive a good look now that he’s starting?

Max – those are two very worthy goats of the night. Iguodala’s performance dropped him from about 15 on the player rater yesterday to 42 today, while Jamison’s is hovering around 52. Jamison’s line is the worse of the two, because as you said, at least Iguodala chipped in some assists.

    Joey,

    1. I would hope so. Maxiell is a big part of the future of that team and he should be getting the PT.

    2. I hate the Bulls right now. I’m still a Bulls fan, but I don’t know what the hell Scott Skiles is going to do. Honestly, BenGo and TT probably should be coming off the bench, but they both know they’re too good for that. Since they’re playing the Suns, I’d hope that Hinrich and Gordon both get to start so they can try to get their shots back. They should have a lot of shot opportunities against Phoenix, but that’s only if Kirk doesn’t get 3 fouls in the first quarter, and everyone else doesn’t throw the ball away every other possession.

Just to add to what Nels said, I’ve got Nocioni in a couple leagues, so I’ve been giving him a good look for a while now. Am I crazy or wasn’t it just a couple years ago that Nocioni had a higher ceiling than Deng? Even if that was never the case, Nocioni will produce given the time. I would be (and are) worried that Skiles might just be starting Nocioni to give the Bulls a kick in the ass and that once they get out of their funk, Thomas will go back to starting. So, I wouldn’t be too excited about Nocioni just yet. The Bulls roster is just a little too unpredictable right now.

yeah, iguodalas TOs are killer. They have andre miller, a decent playmaker! The offense goes through iggy, but 5 TOs/game is a bit much.

iguodala was my goat of the night.

    Patrick, et al,

I’m fairly sure that Skiles will only start Nocioni for a couple games. Once the Bulls lose 2-3 more, he’ll probably try some other stupid lineup. Maybe Duhon should be the starting PG, and Hinrich can come off the bench.

Yeah, Nocioni should be able to match last season’s production, but don’t export more than that no matter what Skiles throws out there. Unless they get down to an 8 or 9 man rotation, only Tyrus Thomas will have the chance to be better than last season.

Also, I almost forgot about Andrea Bargnani as a possible goat of the night. 2 points on 1-11 shooting! Really? In 15 minutes? Really?

And Max, to answer one of your original questions, Rashad McCants is good. Very, very good. He’s ranked 60-something on the player rater right now, so he might not quite be waiver wire material anymore. But you’re a smarter guy than me if you have him on your team right now. I went the opposite direction with Ricky Davis, and let me say, those 5 for 15 nights haven’t been impressing me so far.
