Line of the Night: Chris Paul (5.4). Just another day at the old factory for Paul, who scored 28 points, was perfect from the line, dropped 13 dimes and had 5 steals. New Orleans is now 8-2, which it their best start ever.
Honorable Mentions: Baron Davis (5.1) had 21 points, 12 assists, and 5 BLOCKS, but he was only 6 of 19 shooting, LeBron James (5.2) was one assist short of a triple double (40/10/9), Gilbert Arenas (5.0) had 27 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. But he also had 7 turnovers.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Damien Wilkins (5.1) might not be available in many leagues, but go and grab him if he is. Wilkins scored 41 points while shooting 75%, was 4 of 5 from behind the arc, and grabbed 9 rebounds in a Seattle win. Yes, win. Sure, it took him 2 overtimes and 51 minutes to get all those points, but you still got to appreciate the efficiency. Also, a shoutout to Juan Carlos Navarro (4.3) who scored 28 for the Grizz last night and hit 8 threes. So, why did Navarro get 34 minutes after averaging about 12 in the previous seven games? Pouring through the game log, Navarro was on fire in the first and beginning of the second quarter. It appears that Marc Iavaroni stayed with the hot hand, so Navarro’s game is more of a fluke than a trend.
Goat of the Night: At this point Bonzi Wells (1.4) should become my pimp, because he’s been working me for years. I (and millions of others) rushed to put Wells in our lineups after Tracy McGrady when down with an elbow injury earlier in the week. Last night Wells shot 1 for 9, scoring 4 points in 23 minutes. He was nice enough to chip in 2 rebounds. Thank you sir, may I have another.
Dishonorable Mentions: Jason Williams (2.2) scored 2 points and shot 1 for 5 from the field in a loss to the Celtics.
