Line of the Night: Josh Smith (4.8). No one player utterly dominated the stat line last night (no one broke 40+ points for example), but Smith was close. He scored 38 and had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. His percentages were also very good, which doesn’t happen very often.

Honorable Mentions: Antawn Jamison (4.9) scored 30 and chipped in 11 boards and 4 threes, Amare Stoudemire (4.3) scored 21 points on 8 for 8 shooting, Andrew Bogut (4.3) had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, Steve Nash (4.8) had 15 assists, and not to be outdone Jason Kidd, (4.6) also had 15 assists.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Sean Williams (3.9). Looks like reader Joey was onto something. Williams started at the 4 last night for the Nets and finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and a couple of blocks in 35 minutes. Meanwhile Nenad Krstic was relegated to 15 minutes off the bench. We are officially in add Sean Williams as fast as you can mode, put it on top of your to do list for today.

Also, props to Shawne Williams (4.1), who went for 16 and 8 while blocking three shots for the Pacers. The Pacers blew out the Jazz, so that might have something to do with the extra time Williams got on the court.

And finally, Luis Scola’s (3.3) line of 20/11/4 looks pretty. He was also over 50% from the floor last night.

Goat of the Night: Oh, we had some craptacular performances last night, for sure. My heart wants to give this to Bonzi Wells (1.0) who shot 0 for 6 with 0 points in 17 minutes (thank you sir, may I have another), but my head says Mehmet Okur (1.6). No one had high hopes for Wells going into the season, but wasn’t Okur supposed to be C1 material? It looks like last night can partly be blamed on the Jazz being blown out and partly on their crowded frontcourt – Boozer, Kirilenko, Paul Millsap, Ronnie Brewer, Jarron Collins, and Okur are all in the Jazz rotation right now. By the way, I have both Wells and Okur in my lineup in the GMTR readers’ league this week. I wonder why I’m losing?

Dishonorable Mentions: Wally Szczerbiak (1.0) missed 9 shots in 13 minutes, Yao Ming (1.6) went for 12 and 6, but shot a miserable 4 for 17.

I watched most of the Nets game last night. Sean looked great, he could really be an Amare-lite. They were running pick-n-rolls with him and Kidd. The guy scored on alley-oops on a picknroll, a fast break, put back dunk, hit a jumper, and went 8-10 at the line. One time JKidd try to throw him an alley on the break when Sean barely crossed the 3pt line while in a crowd of 4-5 people. Jason Kidd obviously loves the guy.

Another thing I noticed is that he didn’t really leave his man just to block a shot, which could’ve been a negative on his playing time. He challenged every shot he could and made ShaqFu double pump on a layup, causing a miss. He could have made 2 more blocks if Jason Collins didn’t jump in there and bump the guy driving into the lane.

hey guys, just made a trade here, 10 team h2h, who got the better end?

      Marion, Bargnani, Dalembert

      for

      Kevin Martin, Maggette, Brad Miller

It’s a pretty close trade in my opinion. It basically boils down to trading a 2nd and 5th round pick (Martin and Maggette) for a 1st (Marion). I usually live by the always get the best player in a trade rule, but there is still a lot of uncertainly around Marion and if he’ll be traded from Phoenix. Martin is still an underrated player (he’s currently ranked 11th on the 8-cat player rater to Marion’s 8th), so the difference between Marion to Martin is not as huge as it might seem. If you’re getting Marion and Dalembert, that is a huge upgrade in rebounds and blocks and an equally big downgrade in points and threes. Which side I’d take would probably depend on the makeup of my team, but I kinda like the Martin/Maggette/Miller side of the deal. Of course, Brad Miller is one of those guys I always seem to have on my teams.
