Line of the Night: Andrei Kirilenko (6.4). This is as clear cut a line of the line as we’ve had all year. AK only scored 20 on 5 for 14 shooting, but who the hell cares because it’s a line that only Kirilenko can deliver – 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 6 steals, 4 blocks and 0 TOs. I can’t wait for the game while AK goes for the quadruple double but just misses it because he can only score 9 points.
Honorable Mentions:
Manu Ginobili (5.6) had 31 and 3 steals; Kevin Durant (5.0) scored 35 on 12 for 20 shooting and also added 3 blocks; LaMarcus Aldridge (4.6) went for 22/12 with 5 blocks; a night after we recommend dropping Daniel Gibson (4.6), he scores 24 (I still don’t think he’s long term as LeBron sat out the game); Paul Pierce (4.6) scored 27, 15 of those by way of the three.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Carlos Delfino (2.7) got a solid 33 minutes off the bench and came through with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 threes. Some of that playing time may have been due to Chris Bosh sitting out of the game with a strained groin, but Nesterovic played 33 minutes too, so let’s assume the majority of Bosh’s minutes went to that black hole. Delfino is not the Sean Williams’ type ready to bust out and go Teen Wolf on us if given a chance, but he’ll be consistently solid if given the time.
Jordan Farmar (4.0) scored 21 in only 26 minutes as the Lakers got beat down against the Jazz. I appreciate the guy’s efficiency and I don’t know why the Lakers are trotting out Derek Fisher every night instead of Farmar, but as long as that is the case, Farmar won’t get enough play to be fantasy relevant on a consistent basis. In my experience, good game + blowout loss = don’t pick up.
Raja Bell also had a good game (the threes were falling like Scottie Pippen’s self respect). If he’s available and you need the threes, give him a test drive.
Goat of the Night: Kyle Korver (1.6). On one hand, it’s Korver’s third game back from a groin injury, so some rust can still be expected. On the other hand, I was sitting on Korver for a good two weeks in the GMTR readers league, a league that Nels’ designed with only three bench spots and no reserve, so I need him to play good now, NOW dammit. Although I’m beginning to believe my mistake was drafting him in the first place. Hmmm…
Dishonorable Mentions: Bad shooting nights abound: Michael Finley (1.6) 1 for 11, Cuttino Mobley (1.8) 3 for 12, Peja Stojakovic (2.0) 2 for 12, Dwyane Wade (2.5) 2 for 11. Let’s gettem tomorrow fellas.
