Line of the Night: Allen Iverson (5.6). He handled the majority of the Nuggets scoring with 38 points, although it wasn’t quite enough as Denver lost to Portland 116 to 105. Iverson shot 50% from the floor and 87% from the line and added 6 assists, 3 threes, and 3 steals. Interestingly, he got to the line 15 times compared to 19 for the entire Blazers team.

Honorable Mentions: Instead of sleeping on Saturday, Kobe Bryant (4.8) spent the night icing his sore groin. It must have worked because he went for 32/8/3. Remind me to give that a try before my next big presentation at work; Corey Maggette (4.8) scored 27 and had 6 steals; Andrew Bynum (4.3) only had 14 and 9, but he blocked 6 shots.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Luke Walton (4.1) had some decent fantasy value last season starting for the Lakers and averaging 33 minutes a night (he finished 82 on the player rater last season). Guess what? He has recently been starting again for the Lakers over Vlad-Rad. Walton scored a season high 15 points on 6 for 6 shooting. He was also 3 for 3 in treys. His lines aren’t going to wow anyone, but they are quietly productive.

Sasha Vujacic (4.0) may have only played 19 minutes for the Lakers, but he was able to rack up 14 points off 3 threes and a couple of steals. He also won the award for quote of the night with this:

“Whenever Coach leaves me in there and gives me that confidence, I’m more happy than I can be,” Vujacic said. “I’m more calm now. My teammates have confidence in me, and whenever I have those open shots, they’re supposed to go it.”

James Jones (3.8) cannot compete with Vujacic’s linguistic gymnastics, but he can compete with him stat wise. In 30 minutes, he scored 14 points with 7 rebounds and 3 threes.

Goat of the Night: Andrea Bargnani (0.9). Usually, when I guy only plays 12 minutes in a game, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt before sticking him here. But, if you’re only going to play 12 minutes and if you’re not going to score any points and if you’re not going to get any significant defensive stats, please don’t turn the ball over twice.

Hey, You Look Familiar. Did I Use to Have You on My Fantasy Team? Kelenna Azubuike (0.9) only saw 7 minutes of action in Golden States loss to Detroit. The night before, he played 13. The night before that, he started and played 36. The night before that, he didn’t start but played 43 minutes. It’s been a roller coaster ride for Azubuike this season and we’re still only in December.

      16 team League

      currently 1st place 6-1

I am thinking about trading Dirk & OKur for Brand (Yes I know he’s injured but I play in a keeper league where I could trade him at season’s end for a high draft pick) and Dwight Howard.

      Current Roster/ Roster After Trade
      PG- Chris Paul /Chris Paul
      SG- B. Roy /B. Roy
      SF- L. James /L. James
      PF- Dirk /S. Jackson
      C- Okur /D. Howard
      UTL- AK47 /AK47
      Bench- S. Jackson /Brand
      Ricky Davis /Davis
      Jason Maxiell /Maxiell
      Mike Conley Jr. /Conley

I might be able to throw in AK47 for Chris Bosh but even though I know Bosh is better, he is injury prone and would finish killing my assist category. I am weary of adding bosh cuz I think he could derail my season with already trading for Brand.

Since this is a keeper league, I think that’s a great deal. I was just talking to a friend the other day about how ridiculous Dwight Howard is, and I honestly believe that he can be a #1 overall fantasy pick very soon. I mean, Shaq was at the top of the charts for a while, and his best FT% ever was 62.2.

I also agree with you about Bosh. Too risky for my taste.

Howard in a keeper league would be a very, very nice thing to have.

i’m doing the trade for this season since i’m weak in blks and rebs, but howard is very interesting.

I keep going back and forth on who will be a better keeper, Howard or Chris Paul (Lebron James is my no brainer as a keeper). Right now our league has Pg, Sg, Sf, Pf, C, UTL but we are talking about switching next year to Pg, Sg, G, Sf, Pf, F, C, CF, Utl which i think makes Howard a little more valuable since we will have 20 teams in the league.

Paul’s only downside is injury concern and he has many strong positives.

Howard has some big negatives (FT% and TO, and since Lebron has the same two problems that would really mean I am writing off those 2 cats) but can be a legit 25/15/2.5/60%FG guy.

      What would you guys do?

Well, it’s a choice I’d like to have. But, why choose between Paul and Howard now? Can you wait until the end of the year and see what develops? Paul is playing out of his mind right now, but between the injury concerns, the positional differences and your league setup, I’d say they are pretty close in value at the moment. Unless you plan on flipping one of them, I’d wait and see where they are in April.
