Alternate Title: Watch Your Back Rick Kamla
Alternate, Alternate Title: Why April Means Nothing: The Walter Herrmann Story
After seven weeks in the league, team GMTR is currently tied with the best record in the “World” Division with NBA TV’s own Rick Kamla.
Here’s what the team looks like:
PG: Chris Paul
SG: Ricky Davis
SF: Josh Howard
PF: Andres Nocioni
C: Fabricio Oberto
Bench
Sean Williams (PF/C)
Carlos Delfino (SG)
Walter Herrmann (SF)
Greg Buckner (SG)
Raef LaFrentz (PF)
Robert Swift (C)
Injured Reserve
Speedy Claxton (PG)
Greg Oden (C)
I can thank the first place showing both to Chris Paul and Josh Howard, who have delivered on their 1st/2nd round pick status and more. Ricky Davis has been the ultimate “well, he kinda works because of the league I’m in” guy as the league is points based rather than roto and it leans heavily on scoring and assists. Andres Nocioni has been serviceable and mostly healthy, but unfortunately, he has little trade value in a spot I’d like to improve. I didn’t pick a center until somewhere in the 200 range of the draft (instead wasting an earlier pick on Walter Herrmann), so I’ve been alternating Oberto and Sean Williams like some kind of idiot savant so far in the season. Somehow, it has worked so far, but it’s only a matter of time before I start over thinking myself.
My lineup remains almost the same as one I’ve drafted. I’ve tried trading, but for some reason Evan Silva keeps rejecting my trade of Carlos Delfino and Robert Swift for Andrew Bynum. I keep sending it to him everyday, though. Eventually, the power of the Secret will work its magic. It is also difficult to tweak my team because there is nothing available on waivers. Strike that. I did pick up Raef LaFrentz last week just because I wanted to. He wasn’t playing well or anything, however, between LaFrentz and Swift, my tag team of underachieving seven foot white centers is complete. Plus, I like what CBS has to say about Raef:
Blazers backup PF Raef LaFrentz grabbed 11 rebounds in only 18 minutes Monday night as Portland defeated the Hornets 88-76. LaFrentz only had 17 rebounds on the season coming in to the game!
Fantasy Analysis: LaFrentz’s outing on Tuesday was a freak one and is unlikely to be repeated this season. He is not worth owning in any leagues.
I beg to differ. He’s at least worth owning in one league.
