With only three games on the docket*, I’ll try to keep this one short and succinct.

Line of the Night: John Salmons (5.9). Mike Dunleavy got the line of the night yesterday, so why not Salmons today? Tomorrow it’ll probably go to Greg Ostertag, who will come out of retirement for one more special game with the Jazz. Salmons scored 31 for the Kings, adding 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 threes. Ride him until Kevin Martin returns, or even better, flip him for something of value after another week or two.

Honorable Mentions: People were so down on Richard Jefferson (5.3) going into the year, I got him for a $1.25 in my auction league while his buddy Vince Carter went for $11.50. Just like in real life, Carter has a horrible fantasy contract. Jefferson scored 36 and was 11 for 11 from the line; Jason Kidd (4.7) fell one assist short of another triple double (11/10/9); Ron Artest (4.5) bounced back from a few bad games to score 20, although he only shot 6 for 15; Brad Miller (4.4) went for 23 and 10.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Sean Williams (4.3). This is one of those times to stop reading and immediately check to see if Williams is available in your league. Pick him up while you can because the question of what Williams could do with 42 minutes of action has been answered: he blocked 8 shots, scored 11 and grabbed 7 rebounds. He’ll be a beast if he continues to start.

Scott Skiles Says You Can Leave the Doghouse. Just Don’t Screw Up Ever Again: Tyrus Thomas (4.2) had himself a good fantasy night in only 23 minutes of play. He went for 10/6//4 with 3 blocked shots and 2 steals. He also had the highest +/- score of the night (and 1 of the only 2 positive scores) for the Bulls, who lost to the Lakers 103 to 91.

Goat of the Night: Beno Udrih (1.9). On the plus side, he did have 8 assists. On the minus, he missed just as many shots. Beno was 0 for 8 from the field, finishing with 0 points, 1 rebound, and the aforementioned 8 assists. Not a complete disaster by any means thanks to those passing skills, but with only three games on the docket, he had the worst night.

*That’s one of those phrases that everyone kind of knows what it means, but not really. Where did it come from? What the hell is a docket?
