Line of the Night: Andrei Kirilenko (4.9) wins the LotN, just barely, with 25 points (6 of 8 from the floor), 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 threes and 4 blocks. We haven’t heard from AK in a while, who was last seen playing a measly 10 minutes in the Jazz win over the Clips because of “foul trouble.” In a related development, I was just offered an AK for Josh Howard trade this morning. It was rejected.
Honorable Mentions: 21 and 16 with 3 blocks for Emeka Okafor (4.8); this Steve Nash (4.8) line – 26/4/9 with 7 threes - only counts in a leagues that don’t count turnovers, because he had 7 of them last night; Kobe Bryant (4.8) took more free throws (21) than actual shots (19), but he made a lot of both of them and finished with 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists; Rip Hamilton (4.8) scored 32 with 8 boards, 8 assists, and a couple steals; and Jason Kidd (4.6) is satisfied with doing the bare minimum… to get a triple double! 13 points, 11 boards and 10 assists was his latest t-dup line.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: I’ll assume that Linas Kleiza (4.4) was snatched up in almost every league after Carmelo Anthony went down, so the winner has to be - Larry Hughes (4.1)? Hughes scored 25 with 8 boards, 3 threes, and 3 steals in the Cavs loss to Phoenix. However, I can’t in good conscious recommend Larry Hughes to anyone, including Larry Hughes’ mother. Instead, Kyle Lowry (4.0) got 34 minutes for Memphis after Mike Conley left with game with a contusion in his chest (here’s what his injury would look like if Conley was a hairy middle aged white man with a half shaven chest). Lowey took the opportunity to score 13 points, dish 10 assists, and steal 5… balls (is there a better word?) in Memphis’ loss to the Wizz. Conley’s injury can’t be too serious, so if you’re really jonesing for a pickup, just go with Sebastian Telfair (3.8) already. I know you’ve been eyeing him. He’s starting and there’s nothing we can do about it.
The Biggest Loser: Grant Hill (1.0) left last nights game after 4 minutes and 1 point with back spasms, but I try to leave guys with injuries out of this space, so how about Andrew Bogut (1.3). Bogut only played 19 minutes last night (the Bucks got blowed out) and finished with 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.
Dishonorable Mentions: Drew Gooden (1.2) played 20 minutes yesterday and managed 0 points, 2 boards, and 1 assist; Sean Williams (1.3) is a rookie and will do rookie things, like wear down as the year goes on; and Charlie Bell (1.1) continues his march to the worst season in history by going 0-5 from the floor in 21 minutes.

I’ve got a question. What happened to Boykins and Ruben Patterson. I know Patterson and Anderson had their troubles off the court, but surely a team(especially seeing how tight the playoff race will be in both conferences) would need a rugged defensive small forward. Are they both asking for too much money? do you think they will be signed by any team this season? if so, who?

It appears to primarily be a money issue with Boykins. He opted out of a $3 million deal for this year before the start of the season, so you know his pride is telling him he needs at least that much, if not more before he signs. It looks like teams aren’t willing to pay that much for a 30 year old 5-5 point guard. Patterson, on the other hand, seems to be hurt by the character issues thing. The fact that he has to register as a sex offender in any state he goes too doesn’t help matters (as teams have specifically noted).

with ak47 late inconsistency, i’m thinking about moving him. i’ve thought about granger. my weaknesses are FT% (I have lebron and d.howard) and 3pts. AK47 is my UTL spot, therefore I need him to do a little everything in our h2h league.
my starters are:
CP3
Roy
Lebron
Jamison
Howard
AK47
w/ bynum, brand, and ricky davis highlighting my bench (never thought i’d use highlight and ricky davis in the same sentence).
h2h, win a cat for points
ppg, rpg, apg = 25 pts a cat
bpg, spg, to/g= 15 pts a cat
3ptrs made, fg%, FT%= 10 pts a cat
techs= 5 pts a cat
i got trade s.jackson and m. conley for jamison and bynum since jamison boards better. since roy doesn’t take a lot of 3’s i could use the help there. is there someone else I should be targeting?

First, unless you’re playing in a four team league, damn that’s a good team. You shouldn’t have to do much with it to win (especially when Brand and Bynum come back). If you can move AK for Granger, I’d absolutely make that trade.
Since you’re only starting 6 guys, and 2 of them happen to be Lebron and Howard, you are just going to have to live with the crappy FT%. Not much you can do about that.
As far as the trade for Jackson and Conley, I’m a mildly in favor of it. Jackson is a pretty good guy to target based on your league scoring system and that fact that you need help in threes. Conley should have a good second half of the year as well. I would make the trade if you need to make up ground in your league, but if you’re in first or second place, just wait until Brand and Bynum come back and you’ll be unstoppable.

I already traded jackson and conley for jamison and bynum (I needed the boards from jamison). i’m in a 16 team league with 2 keepers.
I’ve given up on ft%, i’m sitting at 11-2 (I lost on a tie breaker one week, and lebron was hurt the other week). I don’t need points with having 5 guys that average 20+, i need that perfect utility player that gives, 10-15 pts, 5-6 rebs, 4-5 assists, 1+ 3’s, 1+ stl, and 1+ blk with good fg%. is granger that player?

i might be able to swing a deal for a draft pick and gerald wallace for ak47 and elton brand….what do you think about that? i really don’t have much use for brand since i’m covered in pts and rebs and he may never really come back this year.

I’d absolutely make the Gerald Wallace trade. He’d be that perfect utility player you are looking for. If you can’t get that done, then yeah, go for Granger.
