Line of the Night: God bless the overtime game. Caron Butler (5.8) scored a career-high 40 and added 8 rebounds and 5 steals in an overtime loss against the Bucks. It was a tough loss for Butler, who was playing in front of his family – including his mother.

Honorable Mentions: 40 and 19 with 2 blocks for Big Al Jefferson (5.2). I don’t want to jump to any conclusions here, but the kid might be a pretty decent basketball player; Dirk Nowitzki (5.2) powered the Mavs to a win off 32 and 11 while shooting 12-17 from the floor; Dwight Howard (4.7) had 18 and 16 with 5 blocks against the KG-less Celtics. Most importantly, he went 6-6 from the line; Mo Williams (4.7) had 25 points, 5 threes, 5 boards, 5 assists, and 3 steals.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: We’ll go with quantity over quality today. 20 points and 4 threes for Anthony Carter (4.3) yesterday. But, it was his first double digit scoring night since January 11th. Charlie Bell (4.0) bounced back from a 0 point performance on the 25th to score 22 with 6 boards and 6 assists. Anthony Johnson (3.6) went for a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists in a start for the Hawks. And Royal Ivey (3.6) had 17 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in place of an injured Michael Redd.

Fearless Fashion Play of the Night: Stan Van Gundy. If it’s good enough for Don Johnson, it’s good enough for me.
    Stan Van Gundy

Your Chris Webber Sighting of the Day: Word has it that Webber may be returning to the Golden State Warriors and his old friend Don Nelson. What do you think about that news Baron Davis? “That’d be awesome” – Baron Davis

The New York Knicks/Miami Heat Line of the Night: Andris Biedrins (3.1) grabbed 26 rebounds yesterday, the most by a Warrior since Larry Smith in 1981. Are you surprised his performance came against the Knicks? No, I didn’t think so.

The Biggest Loser: The backboard at the Phoenix/Chicago game. A Phoenix game that ended 88-77? That’s not supposed to happen. That’s supposed to be the score at the half, right? The game’s biggest offenders were Joe Smith (1.3), who was 2-12 from the field, Andres Nocioni (2.0) who was 3-13, and Raja Bell (2.3) who went 2-11.

That’s Stan’s fashion choice every 5 games, it seems. He can’t have more than 6 distinct outfits in his coaching wardrobe. Seriously.

Do you think he has them labeled in his closet: “Monday”, “Tuesday”, etc?

fuck. i’m so done with raja. gah. what a chumpzilla he’s been for me. whenever i make a push he pulls some 1 for 234525678345 shit.

Kevin, if you need help with rebounds and threes, then obviously Nocioni is the way to go. I’d say with Luol Deng and Ben Gordon as banged up as they are, there’s probably a good chance that Nocioni continues to play like he has been recently. Probably not quite as good, especially if Ben Gordon comes back, but as long as Luol is out, Nocioni takes his spot as the 2nd or 3rd option on offense. You look pretty weak on assists, so giving up Felton’s numbers there won’t hurt you too much.

I agree with Nels. Grabbing Nocioni would be a good move.

@seanlb – I feel your pain. I’ve been going through the same thing with Jason Terry.

I just got offered dunleavy for rondo as well, any thoughts? dunleavys been pretty great this year, rondo’s been hurting me in FT% but he’s been having a decent season, not as well as i hoped out of my 7th round pick though. I’m not leaning to take both trades as it would shore up my 3′s, I’m concerned it might be a big hit to my assist numbers.

    • http://www.givemetherock.com Patrick

Before this season, I never thought I’d be recommending Dunleavy to anyone, but definitely make that trade. Dunleavy is currently sitting at 36 on the player rater to Rondo’s 107. Like you said, Rondo is having a decent season, but Dunleavy is playing out of his mind.

Doing both trades will leave you short on assists, so you might have to scan the wire for a PG or two. Any of Nate Robinson/Jordan Farmar/Jason Williams could be a nice pickup if they’re available.

The Knicks could not rebound if their life depended on it. When Eddy Curry was on the Bulls, he would hope that the ball would go Tyson Chandler’s way and Zach Randolph only gets rebounds that are right to him. Jefferson’s line was awesome, but I still think the Biedrins 26 rebounds were the most ridiculous line of the night

@Kevin, if you’re in a H2H league, forget about the assists. You can lose 1 category every week if it means you’re going to win another one (or several in the case of adding Dunleavy and Nocioni). Both Dun and Noc should help you with more 3s and points than Rondo, and they should help with your FT% as well.

If you’re in a roto league, that makes it a little more difficult since you can’t really completely dump a category unless you are REALLY good in the other categories.

Thanks for the advice guys, hopefully the trades don’t get vetoed and I can get out of the cellar to make the playoffs
