In honor of the Top 2 players from last night’s games, Friday Tiny Dancer(s):
Line of the Night: You might think it was Manu Ginobli (5.99), what with his 7 threes and 13/15 shooting, but the NBA.com Player Rater knows better.
NBA.com PR: Manu, I hear you made 7 threes last night, that’s impressive.
Manu: Si.
NBA.com PR: Manu, I hear you shot 13/15 from the floor and 11/12 from the line last night, that’s also impressive.
Manu: Claro.
NBA.com PR: But Manu, you only had 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal, while your teammate, The Big Fundamental himself, Tim Duncan (6.38) had 14 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks.
Manu: Si, este hombre es un Fuerza de la Naturaleza.
NBA.com PR: But Manu, that means that Mr. Duncan has the Line of the Night for last night, and yours was only the second best Line.
Manu: Ay! Dios Mio! Naranjas en la cabesa!
Honorable Mentions: Don’t worry, Manu, you still had a great game. Everyone is talking about it. Dwyane Wade (4.65) also played well, ending up with 33/4/11. Unfortunately, that effort was not enough to overcome the Rockets, who were led (in a relative sense) by Rafer Alston (4.38), with 16/6/11.
Manu: But he only shot 6/14!
Honorable Mentions: Yes, but he had 3 threes also, and 2 steals.
Manu: But he is Waiver Wire Man! I am Manu!
Brandon Roy: I had 14 rebounds. And I’m a guard. And despite the fact that I sometimes think this is football, I only had 1 turnover.
Manu: But you no shoot like Manu Fire!
Brandon: That’s true. And my friend LaMarcus only made 6/16.
NBA.com PR: But you see, Manu, I like players who do more than just score. Don’t take it so hard. You were still 2nd overall last night. I still love you.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: I guess Rafer Alston should go here, but I can’t be sure he’s actually on the Waiver Wire in any leagues… Other than that, it’s pretty slim pickings from the Waiver Wire type guys.
The Biggest Loser: I’m going with Dorell Wright (2.10) for this one because he got 34 minutes of playing time, and only managed to score 8 points on 4/9 shooting with 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, and 1 turnover. The value of the steal and the block are pretty much canceled out by the turnover.
Anyone else? There’s not a lot to choose from, but I don’t really feel like looking right now. I’m too busy wondering what the lineup is going to look like for the Bulls tonight. Not that it will matter, since they’re going to lose to Denver anyway. I’m secretly hoping that Shannon Brown turns out to be a stud. Of course, I’m secretly hoping even more that the Bulls keep their contract situation the way it is so they can make a run at Dwyane Wade in 2010.
