Line of the Night: Andre Iguodala (5.2) is propelled to the top spot off his amazing shooting night. AI2 was 15-23 (65%) from the floor and finished with 32 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block in a Sixers win over the Suns (more about that below).
Honorable Mentions: Dwight Howard (5.0), oh, only had 26 and 22 (I’ll let you guess which number is his points and which is his rebounds); Rasheed Wallace (4.9) shot 7-9 from the floor and finished with 17/6/2 with 4 blocks and 0 turnovers in only 26 minutes; Manu Ginobili (4.9) had 30/4/4 with 3 steals; and Hedo Turkoglu (4.6) almost pulled out the triple double (25/8/10) against the Knicks.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Once upon a time, Bobby Simmons (4.1) played for a mysterious team, referred to only in whispers, as the Los Angeles Clippers. And while he wasn’t a star, he played with the heart of a lion and was a solid contributor to the team off the bench. Then, Bobby traveled to the land of Milwaukee in order to become a star and get the type of contract he so truly deserved. Three years later, Bobby got his rich paycheck, but as a penance, he has been forced to toil in irrelevance for eternity…
What? Oh, right. Simmons had 11 points and 3 steals. Sadly, it’s one of his best this season.
And, if you’re really jonesing for steals, Thaddeus Young (3.4) just had his fourth game in a row of 2 or more steals (It was not the best night for waiver wire players as you can tell).
The Biggest Loser: The Phoenix Suns. In the most obvious development since five-cent beer night in Cleveland, the Shaq trade has not worked out so well for the Suns (who are now 2-4 with him). Shaq (2.8), who was supposed to be rejuvenated playing in the West on a championship caliber team, plodded along to 8 points and 7 rebounds (with 4 turnovers) in the Suns latest 119-114 loss to the Sixers. I do want to thank the guy who wrote this article: The Shaq Trade: Good for the Suns. Bad for the nerds.
Nerds. As the great Louis Skolnick said, “We have news for the beautiful people. There’s a lot more of us then there are of you.”
