A Happy Easter to all those celebrating! Now on to yesterday’s games.
Line of the Night: Joe Johnson’s (5.2) line isn’t a wower, it’s just all-around good. Johnson shot 12-20 from the floor, 7-7 from the line, and finished with 34/5/7, 3 steals and a block as the Hawks beat the Magic 98-90.
Honorable Mentions: Squatters’ Rights? Amare Stoudemire (5.1) spent his night at the free throw line, going 20-20 and finishing with 38 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks; Mo Williams (4.6) was 9-11 from the floor, scoring 29 with 13 assists; Andre Iguodala (4.2) went for 28/7/5 with 3 steals; why won’t Mike Dunleavy (4.1) stop being good? Yesterday he had 25/4/4 with 3 threes; and my boy Troy Murphy (4.0) hit 5 threes on his way to 24 points (Troy, thanks, but I need boards).
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: If your team is desperately in need of threes, then Juan Carlos Navarro (3.8) is your man. Yesterday, he was 6-9 for three and scored 22 points in only 29 minutes. He’s not going to get you much else, but trust La Bomba for those threes.
With both Ron Artest and Brad Miller and Beno Udrih racking up DNPs for the Kings latest game, both Francisco Garcia (3.6) and Spencer Hawes (3.6) came ready to play. Garcia played 31 minutes and was 7-13 from the floor, finishing with 15/4/4, 3 steals and a couple blocks. Hawes had 19 and 12 with 3 blocks in 38 minutes of action. I know no one wants to pay attention to the Kings, but if Artest or Miller were to miss any significant time, these two guys could have a lot of value.
And yesterday, Jeff Green (3.5) showcased an all around game that demonstrated why he could be a sleeper pick NEXT year, with 23 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, a couple threes and a block in 34 minutes on the court.
The Biggest Loser: As a Richard Jefferson (1.8) owner, I expect exactly one thing from him – good percentages. And while he was 5-5 from the line yesterday, he also shot 3-15 from the floor and finished with 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists while playing 44 minutes.
Dishonorable Mentions: Andrei Kirilenko (2.0) shot 1-7 from the field and scored 7 points in 30 minutes (although he did have 6 boards and 4 assists); and you’d think Al Thornton (1.5) could do better with 39 minutes than 2-11, 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.
