Line of the Night: Lamar Odom (6.0). Typically, to get a 6+ on the rater, a guy has to have a monster of a game. I think this line from Odom qualifies - 23 points off 10-15 shooting, 21 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 5 blocks as the Lakers beat the Warriors in OT. That is a LotN if I ever saw one.
Honorable Mentions: Baron Davis used the OT (5.5) to score 30. He added 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals in 53 minutes; Vince Carter (5.2) went for 27/6/7 with 5 threes; and forget Tracy McGrady, Rafer Alston’s (4.7) been a big reason for Houston’s strong play this season. He had 28 points, 5 assists, 3 threes and a couple steals. His shooting percentage is even over 40% on the season, which makes Alston not a complete succubus on a team’s shooting percentage anymore.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: This is Chris Quinn’s (5.3) world, we’re just building our cardboard houses in it. After Wade was shut down a couple weeks ago there was a big hullabaloo about Daequan Cook, but who would have thought the more fantasy relevant injury may be Jason Williams? With Williams a late scratch from the game with a jammed thumb, Quinn started and scored a career-high (and possible life-high) 24 points, adding 4 steals. Word is that Williams will be out at least 6-7 days with the injury, although if I know Jason Williams (and we’ve spent a lot of time together over the past 5 years) this is likely the last we’ve see of him this season.
According to the AP, “Five of Miami’s nine players that saw action played in the NBA Development League earlier this month.” Really? I would have never guessed looking at the score: Miami 78, Milwaukee 73.
There are two things I know about Hakim Warrick (4.9). The man enjoys a good headband and he can put the ball in the hoop on occasion. Yesterday against Denver, he scored a season-high 29 points off 10-13 shooting and also had 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Biggest Loser: While not as epically bad as Tony Parker’s shooting performance the other day, there nothing good to be said about Brandon Roy’s (1.5) 5-17 night. Roy finished with 11 points, 5 boards, and 1 assist in 40 minutes as the Blazers got blown out by the… Sonics?
Dishonorable Mentions: Can we all agree that Darko Milicic (1.0) should never be on any fantasy team ever again? I don’t care if you’re playing in a league with 30 teams and need to slot in Raef LaFrentz as your backup center. Please, for the good of humanity, never pick up Darko ever again. Ever. If you need a description of his game before you decide: 11 minutes, 0-4 shooting, 0 points, 4 boards; and Desmond Mason’s (1.2) game was just straight-up bad. I don’t even feel like talking about it.
