Line of the Night: Michael Redd! (It’s an inside joke that I don’t even remember any more) Someone forgot to tell Redd (5.30) that the Bucks aren’t competing for a playoff spot like most of the teams in the Western Conference. Redd threw up 36/6/9 with 4 threes and 2 steals to take the top spot.
Speaking of spots… since there’s only 15 days of fantasy basketball left… is anyone else out there hoping that Dallas doesn’t make the playoffs? Seriously, I would so much rather watch the Nuggets and Warriors than the Mavericks. Unless it was somehow Dallas v Golden State Round 2. But even that wouldn’t live up to the hype, and the NBA would probably be better off without dealing with that kind of pressure.
Honorable Mentions: Now, the 76ers are still playoff hunting, and Samuel Dalembert (5.00) helped them take out New Jersey last night with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, and 5 blocks. I don’t want to jinx it or anything, but he’s started and played in 75 games this season, averaging 2.4 blocks/game. That’s hot.
Rashard Lewis (4.88) made 6 threes. Vince Carter (4.67) had 29/6/7. Steve Nash (4.67) had 17/4/18 with 3 steals, and a 4.5:1 Assist:Turnover ratio. Shane Battier (4.62) sneaks in on a 9/9/2 by adding 4 steals and 4 blocks. He’s crafty like that.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Morris Peterson (4.58) came right after Battier with a somewhat anemic looking 19/6/0. He had a steal and a block, but 0 turnovers and 5 three pointers. I guess maybe he was in there to counter Rashard Lewis’ 6 threes? Back to obscurity with you Mo Pete!
The Biggest Loser: Both of those brothers who cry at the drop of a hat. Seriously, I’ve never seen so many hats dropped. Oh…
For reals, Peja Stojakovic (2.29). He did make all 5 free throws, including 3 at the end of the game that helped win it. Of course, if he’d done better than 2/11 from the floor, the game might not have been so close. Thank goodness for Morris Peterson. Stojakovic actually has a pretty high score for a Biggest Loser, but it’s pretty much because he had 7 rebounds and only 1 turnover. And in the long run, I guess the 2/11 isn’t going to kill you… just maim you a bit.

And if you’re locked in an epic playoff struggle like this one:

Then you need, well, you need NOT 18% shooting.
