Line of the Night: With today being Unsung Player Day (in more ways than one), it’s fitting that Ricky Davis (5.8) crashes the party and trashes everything like he has with Cleveland, Boston, Milwaukee, and now Miami. Dude, stop making out with my sister, no one even wants you here. It was a season-high 33 points for Davis, who hit what I’m going to assume is a season high 9 threes. He also had 8 assists, a steal and a block in 44 minutes as the heat lost to the Wizards.

Honorable Mentions: Chris Paul’s (5.6) 33 with 15 assists could counteract Ricky Davis’ game; David West (5.2) “only” had 17 and 7, but as Nels likes to say, the rater appreciates the D, and West had 3 steals and 4 blocks on the night; Lamar Odom (5.1) delivered some offense with 31 points and he also had 10 boards, 5 assists, and a couple blocks; and Andre Iguodala (5.0) scored 30, was 11-12 from the line, and had 10 assists.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: It’s a steep drop-off after Jamario Moon (4.6), whose game doesn’t look as great as his game score would indicate. Moon had 16 points off a couple threes, with 2 steals and 3 blocks in 30 minutes for Toronto.

After Moon, we drop all the way down to the 24th best line of the night and Chris Quinn (4.1), who had 24 points, 5 threes, and 8 assists for the Heat. And since I don’t dare to even mention Nate Robinson’s (3.9) or Jeff Foster’s (3.9) names in the same sentence as “waiver wire” let’s stop now before we hurt ourselves.

I Hate Myself Line of the Night: Andris Biedrins (4.8) had been sucking hard since coming back from surgery and after a week straight of me sticking him in my lineup and seeing 8 point 5 rebound games, I decided to leave him on my bench yesterday. Of course, Biedrins was motivated enough by my benching to score 21 points off 8-11 shooting and grab 17 rebounds.

The Biggest Loser (Rookie Edition): Even the most talented NBA rookie is going to have his up and down nights. And the more talented the rookie, the bigger the spread apparently. Kevin Durant (1.6) shot a painful 2-17 (12% my friends), scoring 4 points with 5 boards and 4 assists as the Sonics lost to the Rockets 79-66.

Dishonorable Mentions: It’s a good idea not to rely on rookies, even those handed playing time due to injuries. Joel Anthony (1.9) scored 4 points and added 3 rebounds in 25 minutes for the Heat; and what happened to Hot Carl Landry (1.7)? The guy who was supposed to benefit from Yao Ming’s injury scored 4 points and had 4 boards in 16 minutes last night.

Hot Carl Landry has been a total bust. What a disappointment. Daequan Cook and Kasib Powell have put up better numbers.

I think that if you’re going to do the gel thing, you have to rank Eduardo Najera somewhere in there too. =]
