No games yesterday. I hear there was an amateur game of some kind going on last night. It started at approximately 1 in the morning on the east coast, so in all honesty I didn’t make it to the end, which is too bad because it was a hell of an ending.
Since I know everyone who reads GMTR lacks an actual job (although my Mom did leave me a long list of chores I got to get done), how about a few links to waste a little more of your time?
- Speaking of blogging and basements and losers, Fire Joe Morgan breaks down the ridiculous new Rick Reilly rant about the devil spawn as known as bloggers.
- Kelly Dywer on why the NBA provides better product than NCAA (and that’s ok)
- Hoops Fantasy has a timely post up about Mario Chalmers - 2008 NBA Draft Prospect
- The GMTR readers league has entered its championship week and it’s yours truly, I Heart Chris Paul, the number one ranked team in the league vs. the surprise 6th seed, The Scrantons. Of course The Scrantons are starting Kobe, Al Jefferson, David West, Marcus Camby, and Monta Ellis, while due to various injuries, I’m throwing out a lineup prominently featuring Chris Quinn, Francisco Garcia, and Mikki Moore. I am so screwed.
- And if you really need to get your fantasy basketball jones on today in absence of a smooth morning run down of NBA action, check out this Youtube video about “How To Win a Fantasy Basketball League.” A little on the dorky side, but still pretty funny.

I’m going heavy on Lakers and Clippers so I can pack the house on Thursday. It’s #1 (me) for #3 (dork) in my league. But he’s a talented dork. It’s gonna be tough.
My question: Do I keep Vlad the Impaler? Or do I drop him and think that Ramon Sessions is actually going to get decent playing time even if Mo Williams comes back healthy.

To answer your last question first, yeah, it looks like Ramon Sessions is actually going to get good playing time this week. Mo Williams missed 5 games earlier in the year with the same injury and there is no reason for him to hurry his way back at this point in the season.
Is Sessions worth the pickup? If I was in your place and needed assists, I’d probably do it. I’ve never been a fan of Vlad, though. Plus, it appears that Walton is going to return for tonight’s game, ensuring we get the old 8-point 3-rebound Vlad back again.

who got the line of the night from last night’s NCAA championship game?
Comment by Farid — April 8, 2008 @ 12:34 pm
Alright Farid, I can’t resist a question like that. He’s what comes up running the game through the GMTR rater:
Kansas
D. Arthur (4.97)
D. Jackson (1.48)
R. Robinson (-1.67)
M. Chalmers (6.44)
B. Rush (1.88)
S. Collins (4.05)
S. Kaun (-4.07)
C. Aldrich (-4.8)
Memphis
R. Dozier (2.95)
J. Dorsey (2.67)
A. Anderson (0.43)
C. Douglas-Roberts (-0.5)
D. Rose (4.29)
S. Taggart (-4.1)
W. Kemp (-4)
P. Niles (-4.8)
D. Mack (-5.22)
So, looks like the line of the night would indeed belong to Chalmers. Biggest Loser? Chris Douglas-Roberts? Those missed free throws hurt in fantasy as well.

I’m going to risk keeping Vlad the Impaler in for a bit. Looks like Luke Walton will not play tonight. Will that translate into Thursday? Who knows.
Looks like Beno is back in. I’m tempted to grab him, but the last time they put him in, he re-injured himself immediately.
What’s your thought on Tim Thomas? I own Josh Powell (who has been a great pickup) and Elton Brand. I wonder if Thomas is going to get some good playing time or if he is going in to a time-share.
Comment by NBA Roto — April 8, 2008 @ 4:17 pm
Just curious, where are you seeing that Walton is going to pay tonight? At least in the Charlotte Observer (the place I go for all my LA news, obviously) they are calling him doubtful. But again, that doesn’t mean anything about his availability for Thursday.
Regarding Beno, I love him as much as I think you do. And you’re right, he’s scheduled to play tonight… I’d definitely be interested in him over Sessions (damn, I wish the GMTR Readers League wasn’t weekly).
Tim Thomas? He’s dead to me. He lucked into an Elton Brand injury this year and could even do anything with it.

I read on Rotoworld (which is usually pathetic) that Luke was NOT going to play tonight. So we’ll see if Vlad can put up a couple good games in a row.

Yep, looks like you were right.

Yeah, he did ok. I was hoping for a quadruple double, however. I picked up Ramon Sessions for one day (today). Promptly dumped him this morning and picked up Channing Frye. Hopefully Frye will get 35 minutes per game from here on out.
I was stunned to see Josh Powell’s implosion. Only got like 15 minutes of play last night. But as RotoTurd put it, “he was the victim of a lineup change.”
I dumped him to get Channing. We’ll see.
Very disappointed in Charlie Villanueva’s output. Hopefully, this is a one-night disaster.

“victim of a lineup change,” that’s a new one. Frye looks like a nice little end of the year pickup, well, unless he becomes a victim of a lineup change.
