Let me put in a good word for Rashard. The guy really gets no respect. He consistently finishes between 10 and 20 on the player rater every year and no one ever wants to draft him (including me) because he doesn’t play like your typical forward. I think you’ve got him in the correct tier Nels - he really does have to be by himself in that list - but he’s a guy you can usually get in the 3rd round of most drafts. And that’s what they call value, my friends.

And if I’m taking any SF out of tier 8, it’s probably going to be Thaddeus Young. Like you said, the PT is going to be tough to come by, but mostly I just like to say the name Thaddeus.

Mike, if you check the position rankings, we have Shawn Marion as the #1 PF. I agree that he does give you great flexibility by being able to play both Forward positions and he can go with either a small ball or big ball lineup.

There are so many players this year who have multi-position eligibility (at least according to Yahoo) that it almost makes me reluctant to take a player who is limited to just one.

So, Shawn Marion is then a power forward. If he's a small, he gets to occupy Tier One from the top position, possibly. As a small he gets above average:

FG%
PTS
REB
STL
BLK
(Less TOs)

As a power forward there are others in the same class in terms of rebounds and blocks as well as FG%, but he gets an above average 3PM in that group. He gives you great flexibility to go big by putting him in the SF and following up with Duncan at PF, or he helps you go small by filling the PF slot with some SF bonus cats and picking Rashard Lewis as a SF to boost 3s.

I totally agree with you about the SFs lately, hence my lengthy explanation of why I don't want to draft LeBron... ever, kind of. When the best players at the position have such drawbacks, I'm literally looking just to fill rotation requirements (which I guess is how I ended up with Hakim Warrick as one of 2 "SFs" on my squad in the mock.)
