Jeff Clark of CelticsBlog has been coordinating blogger team previews for at least a year now, and this year, I finally got my act together to sign up and write a preview for my team (since all the teams were covered, I got my pick of teams). It’s probably going to be the worst preview of any of them (not just of the Bulls previews), but I’m a fantasy basketblogger, not a traditional team blogger.

Chicago Bulls
Last Years Record: 33-49
Key Losses: None
Key Additions: Derrick Rose

1. What significant moves were made during the offseason?

Getting the first pick of the draft. Signing some people.

2. What are the team’s biggest strengths?

Playing 5 players at a time?

I’m not sure here… I mean, with Ben Gordon resigned, the offense shouldn’t be terrible. I hear that Tyrus Thomas has taken a liking mid-range jumpshots, which can’t be a good thing.

Transition offense should be a good thing. The Bulls have a young roster, and this Point Guard who’s supposed to be pretty good, so I think running will benefit them and be an instant offensive catalyst.

3. What are the team’s biggest weaknesses?

Defense. Yeah, Larry Hughes gets a lot of steals, but I’m hoping he doesn’t get a lot of playing time. The Bulls frontcourt looks to be Drew Gooden and Joakim, and while not terrible defensively, they’re probably going to have a hard time shutting down other teams’ big men. Contain maybe, but they – Gooden especially – are going to have to make up for it on the other end.

4. What are the goals for this team?

The goals are to get some guys back on track after a very disappointing season last year. Player development for guys like Rose, Noah, Thomas (and I would always argue Thabo Sefolosha) will be important as well.

Non-player goals would be to try to trade some expendable players to get help at the SG position. Yes, I know that Ben Gordon is on the team, but, while I can’t deny his scoring ability, at 6′ 3″ (and apparently a smaller 6′ 3″ than Derrick Rose) I’ve always felt his height was a liability and that the Bulls would have a very hard time making it through the playoffs with him as the go-to guy.

5. Who provides the best fantasy value on the Bulls?

There are some guys who will be selected ahead of him, but I feel like Derrick Rose will have the biggest impact of all the Bulls when you take into account where he gets drafted. He’s at 112 on the Big Board and 118.67 on the Mock Draft Roundup, and 106.7 average in Yahoo drafts. He’s got the potential to step in and be a Top 100 player. Upsiiiiiiiiiiide!

Predicted Record: 42-40 – Could I be any more middle of the road? Maybe a little!

Other Stuff Like This:

  • DNYL

Does Drew Gooden have any chance @ all of putting up his post-trade #’s from last year? 14/9 with a block and 80% from the line sounds like a late round steal to me. But then again, it’s greasy Drew Gooden…

“…Signing some people” -> how disinterested can you get?

Key Losses: Scott Skiles – I am not too sure how the NCOTB or New Coach on the Block (Bulls) will do.

I am excited to see Thabo blossom! Too bad the backcourt’s more crowded than a queue for handwash at a strip club for the blind!

@DNYL, I think he does. Those numbers are definitely the high limit, but he’ll be getting the majority of minutes at PF. I think the FT% might have been a fluke, but who knows. If it helps, I drafted him (and will be starting him until Manu Ginobili comes back) in the Battle of the Bloggers league (more coming on that).

@PitP, I’m only disinterested because I feel like they should have tried hard to do something. I mean, the team as it is currently put together is not going to win a championship in this league. I mean, maybe they’re just waiting for Larry Hughes fat contract to expire?

I feel like Thabo could be a starting SG in this league, but he just doesn’t have enough experience, and the Bulls aren’t giving him the opportunity to earn it.

As all around the world ,we know Michael Jordan is the super star in NBA .His quotes is one of my favorite ,that is .“I can accept failure, but can not accept to give up.”He always called the god of basketball ,air jordan. He never give up while fierce competition .
