Let the games begin, indeed.

Sergio, I love you man, and it’s not like I’ve posted any Week 1 Fantasy Planner myself, but posting this awesome weekly fantasy basektball planner on Monday when most teams have to have their rosters set by Sunday at 11:59 is a lit bit of salt in Brendan’s wound. (Brendan posted in the GMTR Readers League today at 8:22 pm asking if he somehow missed that the league had weekly lineup changes; so if you also didn’t pay very close attention to your league’s settings, don’t worry, everyone has a day job. I ain’t about to quit it.)

Soon you will see a recap much like this one from Fantasy Basketball Jedi of the GMTR Monster League draft. FBJ also has a Eight Great Reasons to Look Forward to Fantasy Basketball 2008-09. I would have done something like that for this post, but I was too busy doing the calculations concerning the physics behind this outfit:

Other Stuff Like This:

  • Check my original Simmons-hatin', but I renew my claim that fantasy basketball shouldn't try to be the most popular. Instead, we should embrace its nature as the most strategically challenging fantasy games, and that will make it more popular than it is.

Anyway, this season sort of sneaked up on me while I was traveling for work. You'll see my thinking in a 2RR post soon to come, but I'm having sort of an identity crisis with my team in this league. I like the pieces, but I have to refine, and I'm not sure where I'm going with it yet.

Patrick, how much fun you think I'm havin' matching up against Rashard Lewis in week 1? Damn...
  • Brendan, as the guy playing against you this week, I am very disappointed that your biggest mistake this week is forgetting to start Daniel Gibson. I was really hoping to get one of those everyone still on the bench mistakes.
  • @Brendan, I am still not convinced that daily lineups changes are good in H2H leagues. Especially when it comes to standardization in terms of making it more accessible to novices. I'm convinced one of the reasons that fantasy football is so successful is because it only requires you to check your lineup once a week. It only requires you to watch games once a week too (for the most part), which is the 2nd major factor in its success.

At least you've got something set up. I'm not exactly wishing you the best of luck. But I am at least wishing you a 5-4 win since you're not playing me. :)
  • Oh, nice work by Sergio on the schedule, forgetting that the Bucks are the only team with 4 games this week. Of course, it would be nice if nba.com/fantasy would let me pick up Luke Ridnour this week, but he is not one of the players listed. However, Carlos Arroyo is. Really outstanding work at NBA/Rotohog's UFC. It's been a freaking train wreck over there.
  • Oooh, maybe I shouldn't have benched Maggette based on rumor or innuendo. Can't change it now. Time to shine, Demarcus Nelson!
  • rambaldidixonsloanjackbristow
    ahhh. i missed you 170.
  • If you'll recall, I was one of the voices for standardizing DAILY lineup changes this summer, and when we said "as close to" our official model as possible, I never thought to ask about weekly lineup changes. I mean, I should still be competitive in my matchup, but I should have started Boobie against a big ball team.
