Day 17 of 170: Where Nothing All That Amazing Happened

Line of the Night: Chauncey Billups (1.23) took it away tonight with 26/1/6 and 4 threes, going 69% from the field and 100% from the line (only 4 attempts, though). When that’s you’re line of the night, you know that Amare wasn’t playing.

Honorable Mentions: A bunch of guys had decent games, like: Rasheed Wallace (0.79) had 19/11/3 with 3 threes and a steal to keep up his rep as one of the perfect Small Ball Centers; Ben Gordon (0.78) topped 30 points with 35/2/4, making 57% of 21 shots and 9/10 free throws; Richard Hamilton (0.72) had a big game for him with 24/6/7 and 4 steals (thanks for being so generous Rip!).

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: I don’t want to gloat too much, since it was really Patrick who called it for me, but Erick Dampier (0.68) ran all over the Bulls like some Bizarro Pamplona, scoring 16 points, while grabbing 18 rebounds, blocking 3 shots, and shooting 54.5%. That’s what I’m going to call a 1.21 Giga Watt performance. And now you can drop Dampier for just about anyone.

Tyrus Thomas (0.38) had 8/8 with 2 blocks and 2 steals, but like the title says, nothing all that amazing happened last night. I mean, LeBron James’ (0.45) near Triple-Double was canceled out by his 5 turnovers and Vintage LeBron 2/4 from the line.

The Biggest Loser: I guess I’ll go with Andres Nocioni (-0.38) since he played 29 minutes, and only had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks while shooting 0/5 from the field, and 4/6 from the line.

Corey Maggette (-0.29) returned and actually did something for my team, so I can’t fault him too much, but the 28.6% shooting (2/7) was disappointing.

Of course, that’s relatively tame compared to Dirk’s (-0.20) shooting: 5/17 = 29.4%. That’s certainly more painful than Maggette’s poor percentage. I think it was his 1 block that lifted over Maggette who had neither a blocks nor a steal.

All Eyez On Me: Portland v. New Orleans will be the game to watch tonight (even thought it doesn’t look like it’s on TV). Two young and still-sort-of upcoming teams battling it out for the future of the NBA.

For individuals, I’m going to predict Amare with Line of the Night against the Kings. They may have their front line back, but it’s not all that great of a front line.

My dark horse for LotN is Deron Williams against Charlotte. He’s passing to Boozer against Emeka Okafor and Jared Dudley, and Ronnie Brewer going against Matt Carroll.
