I got lucky with Friday recaps since most Thursdays there’s only the two TNT doubleheader games. One of these days, I swear I’m going to write my recap on Thursday just to see how I do only looking at the matchups. This is not that post, though.
Line of the Night: Tim Duncan (1.26) takes home his first LotN of the season with an impressive 21/12/7 on 58.3% and an especially nice 87.5% from the line. We all know that Duncan is no Grand Master of Free Throws, but in the last week, he’s been shooting almost 77%. If he keeps that up, he’ll be moving up the Player Rater for sure. He also had a steal and 5 blocks last night, which couldn’t have hurt his score.
Honorable Mentions: The usual suspects from a night involving only the Spurs, Suns, Mavericks and Nuggets… Dirk Nowitzki (1.12) threw in 39 points on 68% shooting to help the Mavs blow out Phoenix. On the other side of that game, Steve Nash (0.77) had 20 points and 10 assists on 63% shooting and 3 threes. Manu Ginobli (0.75) had his best game yet since coming back with 21 and 4 three-pointers.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Right after Manu is none other than Matt Bonner (0.50). Okay, so he’s kind of a ways behind if you look at his actual score. But since Bonner is probably available in your league, I’ll just let you know that he had 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 threes. Something to consider if you need a Small Ball Center.
Erick Dampier (0.48) had his 4th or 5th good game of the season with 9 and 14 and 3 blocks. Still, I’d go with Bonner if you’re looking for a Center to pick up.
The Biggest Loser: It’s sometimes hard to pick a Biggest Loser when only 41 players see court time. But Leandro Barbosa continued his on-again-off-again season with 4 points, a block, and 3 turnovers in 21 minutes last night. He shot only 28.6% from the field. He didn’t miss any free throws, though. Of course, he didn’t take any either.
All Eyez On Sean: Frequent commenter and GMTR league participant seanlb is going to be at the Rockets game tonight as they take on Golden State. Evidently there is a bachelor party that wanted to see hot, sweaty men. That game could be interesting because of the contrasting pace styles involved.
But with so many other games on the slate, I’m looking at Kobe Bryant to torch the Wizards, and I figure New York @ Atlanta will be good for fantasy performances as well.
Of course, Portland @ Boston will be a truly intriguing match-up of The Champs vs. The Future.
