Line of the Night: Vince Carter (1.43) delivered an early Christmas gift for his owners with 38 points, including 6 three-pointers, a slightly-above-his-average 48% from the field, and 8/9 from the free throw line. He also had 8 rebounds, 3 steals, an assist, and a partridge in a pear tree. (For you n00bs, that’s what we called blocks last Christmas season. It wasn’t that funny then and it’s still not funny now.)
Nice List: With 243 players seeing time in games last night, you would be right to expect some decent performances. Here’s the “Nice List”.

Tim Duncan (1.10) had 19 and 12 with 5 assists, 2 steals, and 5 blocks. He only shot 45%, but he made his 1 free throw!
I’ll save the #3 best player for the next section…
Rodney Stuckey (1.04) dropped 40 points on the Bulls (and he’s not a big man!) along with 4 assists and 4 steals. He shot 62.5% on 24 shots. That’ll help the old FG% category.
Dwyane Wade (1.02) continues to make anyone who passed on him in the first round feel like a kid who didn’t get what they wanted from Santa. Last night he had 32 points to go with 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks. He shot 52% from the field, but if it makes you feel a little better, he was only 6/10 from the line.
Devin Harris (0.99) continued his All Star run with 29 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2 steals, shooting 56.3% and 91.7% respectively. He also had the final play drawn up for him and hit the game winning shot.
Caron Butler (0.92) and Erick Dampier (0.89) both had decent games, but I want to skip down to Joe Johnson (0.86) since he had a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. He probably would have beaten out those other two (and been a LotN contender) if he’d shot better than 35%.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: The aforementioned #3 player of the night was none other than Brandon Rush (1.07). With Marquis Daniels still out with flu-like symptoms, Rush is bringing the heat. Last night he had 22 points, including 4 three-pointers, adding 8 rebounds and 3 steals. He shot 66% to just make it under the 70% FG percentage rule, and he is only owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues. In the past 4 games, he’s played 42, 54, 38, and 42 minutes. In that first game, he played those 42 minutes compared to Daniels 29 minutes. So, it’ll definitely be interesting to see what happens when Daniels returns. If you’ve got room for a potential breakout GF on your squad, it might be worth stashing Rush in case he takes over in Indiana.
Continual teases Erick Dampier and Tyrus Thomas both had good Waiver Wire games. Don’t pick them up.
The Naughty List: JR Smith (-0.56) is owned in 64% Yahoo leagues because he does actually produce decent games on a consistent basis, and manages to hit 5 threes in a game every couple of weeks. But last night, he was 231 out of 234 players, going 2/8 for 6 points and 4 rebounds.
Marc Gasol (-0.53) is rightfully owned in 57% of Yahoo leagues, as he’s been a decent backup and sometimes even a good second Center. But last night, after giving his all in a fairly unremarkable performance against his brother the night before, he could only muster 5 points on 1/5 shooting, and grabbed only 4 rebounds while turning the ball over twice. Darko Milicic (-0.51) got the start for the Grizzlies even though Marc has started 77% of the time. Don’t worry, though, as you can see from the game score, Darko had an equally naughty game, missing 2 field goal attempts and 2 free throws for 0 points.
