Line of the Night: Lebron James (1.98) was out for blood against the Celtics – and blood is what he got – as the King absolutely destroyed both Boston in general and Paul Pierce specifically. Lebron finished with a 38/7/6 line adding 4 steals and 3 blocks and one big statement to the rest of the league.
Honorable Mentions: Chris Bosh (1.29) had 32 points off 11-13 shooting with 10 boards and 3 blocked shots and Kobe Bryant (0.99) went for 36 and added 13 assists.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: I know he’s not great, or even good, or consistent, or the kind of player wining teams usually have, but I was a little surprised to see that Rasual Butler (0.91) was only owned in 5% of Yahoo leagues. He starts and can shoot the three, which basically makes him Marco Belinelli without the sexy name. Last night, Butler went off from three, hitting 6-10 from behind the arc and scoring 27 points. Looking at his game log, it appears he has this kind of game every 1-2 weeks, so keep an eye on him for the Hornets January 19th game against Indiana. You’re gonna want him in your lineup then.
Also with his THIRD good game in a row: Tyrus Thomas (0.86) – 16 and 10 with 2 blocks in 36 minutes.
The Biggest Loser: Josh Smith (-0.74) only got 22 minutes in a Magic beatdown of the Hawks, shot 3-11 from the floor and had 2 boards and no assists or blocks. That my friends, is a biggest loser.
Also, the corpse of Paul Pierce (4-15 shooting, 5 turnovers) is lying somewhere in the Quicken Loans Arena. If you find it, call 1-800-THEREISNOWAYTHECELTICSAREGOINGTOBEATLEBRONINTHEPLAYOFFSWITHOUTJAMESPOSEY
All Eyez on Me: Detroit (22-12) at Utah (21-15). Battle of the good teams with a lot of injured players on them. And you can add CJ Miles to the long list of injured players, as he’s doubtful thanks to an ankle sprain he suffered in the Jazz last game. Time for Kyle Korver to step it up, which is not good news for the Jazz.
New York (13-21) at Houston (23-15) – Yes everyone, it’s the day you’ve been waiting for. Eddy Curry is back for the Knicks! He got a solid 2 minutes and 38 seconds against Dallas on the 8th. Get him back in your lineups ASAP! Or not, either way.
And Rick Adleman is “optimistic†about Ron Artest playing in this game.
Sound the Golden State Alarm: @ Portland tonight. Hey, Greg Oden might actually have a good game! Nice.
