Line of the Night: Steve Nash (0.93) was kept from breaking the 1.0 mark because of his 6 turnovers, but that is a magical number on which I have opined several times in the past (okay, apparently only twice), so I add this data to the the mythical question: What are 6 turnovers worth? Nash had 20 points, 4 threes, 7 rebounds, 14 assists, and a block, shooting 50% from the field and 100% from the line. I’d take that.

Honorable Mentions: Mo Williams (0.74) also benefitted from an overtime game, making 5 three-pointers with 56% from the field. Luol Deng (0.73) was on the other end of Williams OT game (and the winning end, I might add), scoring 22 with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Finally, Brandon Roy (0.69) didn’t need overtime to throw up 29 points, pull down 8 rebounds, dish 5 assists, and get 2 steals. He was 13/16 from the line, so if you’re trying to win FT%, you’re in luck.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Everyone’s talking about Jerryd Bayless (0.42) since Steve Blake was injured. Bayless played 25 minutes, scoring 23 points with 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Those numbers, while not fantastic by themselves, come on 67% field goal shooting and 100% of 11 free throws. Travis Outlaw was the only other Blazer to take a free throw (he went 2-4).

The Biggest Loser: Well, I want to say Dahntay Jones (-0.42) since I recently listed him as a WWLotN, but since the odds that anyone actually picked him up are about as low as the Rotten Tomatoes score for that Mall Cop movie, we’ll move on…

Unfortunately, that means we have to look at Greg Oden (-0.32), and his 13 minute, 2 point, 1 rebound, 1 block performance. He’s starting to look like Tyrus Thomas when it comes to consistency.

All Eyez On Me: Toronto @ Indiana means we have two mediocre teams with some good fantasy players going against each other. Chris Bosh, Danny Granger, and the resurgent Andrea Bargnani and Mike Dunleavy.

The one you want to tune in to, though, is New Orleans at Cleveland. I’m sure the Cavs will be out for blood after losing to the Bulls, but they’re also playing back-to-back, and last night was an overtime game.

Another matchup of league-leading teams: Orlando @ the Lakers. That is going to be a Battle Royale.

The Golden Ticket: Atlanta is at Golden State tonight, so let’s place bets on Mike Bibby, Josh Smith, and Joe Johnson. Also, NY is at Washignton, but I can’t really see anything good coming from that for the Wizards… except maybe 40-50 points from Antawn Jamison.

My call to play Anderson Varejao yesterday was as pathetic as the Mall Cop trailers. I blame Aaron Gray and his DNP. Sorry peeps.

I've got a guy offering me Chris Bosh and Andre Iguodala for Rashard Lewis and Jeff Green. I'm leading in the 3's category thanks to Lewis and this would severly take that number down. However I'm set to gain in boards and assists. I already have Bynum and Andres Biedrins and I just snagged an injured Zach Randolph off wavers. So is it worth it to take the hit in 3's and 3 point percentage for the added boards assits and points? I'm in second and climbing slowly as of right now and the guy in first is 10 games over on most positions..any suggestions?

You didn’t say whether it was an H2H or roto league, which makes a difference in my opinion. Basically, Bosh and Iguodala >Lewis and Green, but it’s closer than I would have thought. According to the GMTR rater, Lewis and Bosh are at 14 and 15, respectively, while AI is at 34 and Green at 74. Green has stepped up his game a little bit in the past month – to something like 17/7.5/1 with 1.5 threes a game.

So, yes, you would be getting slightly better value in the trade overall. However, you’d be losing something like 3.5 threes a game in the trade, which would basically necessitate a second trade to get some more threes again (this would be much more important in a roto league than in an H2H league). It’s a pretty risky trade to make in a roto league, especially if you’re in second place, but if you’re confident you can swing a second trade after the deal, you would be picking up value overall. It is an easier trade to make in an H2H league, as the second trade wouldn’t be as necessary.

Are you not counting the Mad Bomber that is Zach Randolph that Fred just picked up? ZeBo fell in love with the three ball last season and is averaging almost a three a game this year.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/nelswadycki Nels

I agree with Patrick here… if this were H2H, then I'd do it since you're gaining value in 5 categories and losing value in 4. You only need to win 5-4 in the Finals to have a championship.

However, this sounds like a Roto league, which makes it much more complicated. You say you're leading 3s, but you'll have to evaluate what your final position in that category will be, as well as where you think you'll end up in the other categories. With Bynum and Biedrins (and Zebo) already on your team, it doesn't sound like you need the help in points and boards all that much. So, maybe try a trade that will net you more assists (if you need to catch up there).

Yeah, what was Del Nergo doing? Trying to win the game or something?

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/biggs0 Patrick

Exactly. It's like they don't even care about us. US!

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/biggs0 Patrick

You actually made me look up Randolph's stats with that statement. Fool me once…

  • Fred Mafia

Yes it's Roto, I've been going over the numbers all morning thus why I came here for advice. I am down in assists and FTM which is why it looked so appealing with Bosh and Iguodala who are fairly strong in the two categories. Taking the loss in 3's and the extra turnovers is where I'm stumped. I'm up by about 120 3's on the rest of the league so it would take a little bit for them to catch up. I'm only down 10 FT's to moving up another point there and I'm 4 points behind overall on the leader. He has the clear lead in games played, minutes and points It will be hard to catch him there. I want to make the right move and stay close to him because he's 10 over in 4 of the positions so hopefully at the end of the season I can sneak by when he runs out of games. I've got a strong team and as soon as Zebo comes back I hope that it starts to show because i got him for free. I've just got to mull it over some more but from what you guys are saying it may not be right for what my plan is.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/nelswadycki Nels

If I remember the BasketballMonster stats correctly, you're only losing about 1+ threes per game between each pair of players. If you're up by 120 threes, and only down by 10 FTM, that would tilt it more in favor of the trade for me. Moving up in FTM would get you a point, if you can hold your lead in threes. Then you can probably squeeze another point at the end when Mr. First Place runs out of games.

Are games played and minutes categories in your league? That would be one of the strangest things I've ever heard if it were.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/nelswadycki Nels

Sorry, by "this year" I mean, with the Clippers, where he's averaging 0.8 threes. That comments was only meant to be semi-sarcastic.

  • Fred Mafia

Yes they are categories. I also forgot to mention that I have Mehmet Okur as well..so say I was to take this trade and give up my 3 point man. Who should I pursue for my new need of 3's with this group of large paint machines that i have?

  • Fred Mafia

OR…what about Lewis for Bosh 1 for 1 and then trading one of the other big guys for a 3 man with some assists?

Like I said, I think you'll probably be okay in three-pointers, so I wouldn't worry too much about getting a three man with assists. Maybe look for an assist man with some threes.

  • http://intensedebate.com/people/biggs0 Patrick

I like the first trade better where you get to trade up from Green to Iguodala. With a pretty hefty lead in threes like that, I'm with Nels that I wouldn't worry too much about that category for the moment.

  • Fred Mafia

I took it..I like the guys i'm giving up but eyes to the future! Thanks for all your help Nels and Patrick. VIVA LA givemetherock!
