In the spirit of white boys who can jump, the fantasy gods decided to throw out a whitewash of lines today. Seriously. You can’t make this stuff up.
Line of the Night: It was a season high 30 points for Mike Dunleavy (1.25), who in his 13th game back from injury, finally, finally found his shot (not that his fantasy owners were getting anxious or anything). It takes me 13 tries to go to the bathroom without pissing all over the floor, so we all have our struggles. Dunleavy finished 10-18 from the field and 4-8 from three on the night.
Honorable Mentions: For better or for worse, Charlie Villanueva (1.08) has become the go to guy in the Bucks offense now that Michael Redd is out for the year. He stepped up to the challenge yesterday with 26 and 13 in the Bucks win; white boy extraordinaire Troy Murphy (1.08) had 19 and 12 with 5 threes; and Eric Gordon (1.07) continues to lead the Baron-less Clippers, going 5-8 from three and scoring 27 points.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Ronald Murray (0.84). Flip just won’t get out of our lives as he is sort of wrestling the 6th man role away from Maurice Evans in Atlanta. He got 31 minutes off the bench against the Nets and scored 23 points off 9-12 shooting, adding 5 boards and 3 steals.
Steve Novak (0.65) took advantage of the injury hobbled Clippers to get about 35 minutes on the court. He hit 5-10 from three and scored 19 points. He’s still a decent short-term pickup if your team needs a splash of white or until the Clips get a little healthier.
The Biggest Loser: Sure, expectations aren’t super high for Beno Udrih (-0.6), who has looked bad in his last 4 games now, but his 4/3/2 line was part of a lethargic Kings’ performance against the Bulls .The Kings are 0-21 against the eastern conference this season. That just screams biggest loser.
All Eyez on Me: Utah (26-21) at Portland (28-17) – one of the better, if not best, game today. Andrei Kirilenko is going to miss the next 3-4 after undergoing ankle surgery on Friday, which is just what this Jazz team needs: more injuries. As for Portland, the Greg Oden Watch might have to be temporarily put on hold, because he’s actually been playing consistently well in the second half of January. The man has put up 3 double-doubles in his last 5 games thanks to a little less fouling on his part which has been leading to a few more minutes.
The Golden Ticket: Golden State (15-32) at Houston (28-19) – Expect Houston’s “big three” to play (I use that term very lightly) as they finally did on Wednesday. But the guy to keep an eye on is Luis Scola, who has been on fire the past couple weeks.
