Happy Groundhog Day! Hope everyone (especially my peeps in the North) is enjoying the sun! I can’t wait for another 6 weeks of winter to see how long the snow stays on the ground!
Line of the Night: Al Jefferson (1.19) was the only one to top the 1.00 mark last night with his 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. He shot 71% from the field, but the Timberwolves still lost. They were playing Boston, though, so can you blame them?
Honorable Mentions: Jameer Nelson (0.89) had 18/8/10 with only 2 turnovers. Paul Pierce (0.79) was only 4th on the night, but his 36/8/6 on 54 and 100 shooting percentages look pretty impressive. Dwight Howard and LeBron James both also had impressive looking lines, but their free throw shooting dropped them down the list. Of course, if you’re punting FT%, then who cares, right?
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Francisco Garcia (0.92) came up with the second best line of the night, and is only owned in 49% of Yahoo leagues. His 17/5/7 are pretty nice, but when you add 2 threes, 3 steals, and 3 blocks, you kind of have to wonder how he didn’t top the list. Well, I’ll tell you: He only shot 43.8% from the field on 16 attempts. That’s the difference between a winner and a runner-up. Luckily for Garcia, the Kings were playing Oklahoma City and pulled out the OT win.
The Biggest Loser: Rodney Stuckey (-0.50) played 30 minutes against the Cavs, but only managed 6 points. He had 8 assists, but was only 2-9 from the field and 2-4 from the line.
All Eyez On Me: Portland @ New Orleans – a potential future Western Conference Finals matchup? By future, I mean in a couple years. I still think the Lakers will be the team from the West this season no matter what the prognosis on Bynum is.
The Golden Ticket: San Antonio @ Golden State. The Spurs take their 89 possessions per game into Oakland where they average 97. Who’s cuisine will reign supreme?
The fairly uptempo Lakers go into Madison Square Garden to face the super-fast Knicks. May be a good time for Lamar Odom to get his game on.
