Line of the Night: Uhm, yeah, it’s not even close as Kobe Bryant (1.74) runs away with the LotN thanks to his 61 point performance against the Knicks at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Apparently, 61 points in a game is a record at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, which is important because it’s MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Kobe went 19-31 from the floor and 20-20 from the line in the win.

    at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

Honorable Mentions: Jason Richardson (1.31) owners have to be happy to see his name on here after his less than smooth transition to the Phoenix. He had 24 points, 6 assists and 4 steals as the Suns crushed the Kings 129-81; for at least one night, Pau Gasol (1.14) picked up the slack in Andrew Bynum’s absence with 31 points, 14 boards, and 5 assists; and Stephen Jackson (1.02) scored a season high 33 points, adding 11 assists and 4 steals in an OT game against the Spurs.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Mario Chalmers (0.74) finished with 15 points, 8 assists and 4 steals yesterday against the Clippers. Chalmers is currently owned in 47% of Yahoo leagues which seems about 30% to low. Yes, he crashed and burned for a stretch earlier in the month and he has that rookie game-to-game streakiness, but Chalmers seems to be back on track and is averaging about 30 minutes a game since mid-January.

Next more-likely-than-not free agent on the list would be Rasual Butler (0.5), who scored 11 points and had 2 steal on the night. Not impressed? Neither am I.

Injury of the Night: Cross those fingers Chris Paul owners. Paul strained his groin in the third quarter of the Hornets/Blazers matchup and left the game limping. He has an MRI scheduled today and we’ll know more about his injury then.

Injury Update of the Night: Thanks to the evils of flopping, Andrew Bynum is expected to miss 8-12 weeks with a MCL tear. Say it with me now… FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

The Biggest Loser: Hakim Warrick (-0.58) is officially dead to me after a 5 minute, 0 point game against the Wizards. Warrick has been bingeing more than Mary-Kate Olsen this season and it’s time to accept the fact that he’s just no good to have in my life anymore.

All Eyez on Me: Boston (40-9) at Philadelphia (23-23) – KG is going to miss his second straight game with the flu, so make sure he’s out of you lineup in daily changes leagues. The power forward on the other side of the matchup might as well be sick based on his last performance – 2 of 10 shooting, 5 points. Not bad for a first round pick in a lot of leagues, huh?

Minnesota (16-30) at Indiana (19-29) – Al Jefferson is a beast! He’s coming off two straight 34 point, 10+ board, 4 block games. Danny Granger is coming off a 4 block game of his own, proof that if you believe, you can achieve. Well, not you personally. I meant someone with skill, like Danny Granger.

Chicago (21-27) at Houston (29-19) – Keep an eye on Aaron Brooks in this game. Thanks to the suckitude that follows Rafer Alston wherever he goes, Brooks got a chance to man the point for most of Houston’s last game it resulted in 22 points and 9 assists. If this becomes a trend, don’t wait to snatch him up.

10 team H2H league, I have Bynum. I also have Brook Lopez, Millsap, and Elton Brand (grrr) as C-eligible. Drop Bynum, or hold onto him? There aren't many good free agent Cs, and in terms of other players, Tyrus Thomas, Ridnour, and Azubuike waiting to be picked up (also Delonte West…). I'm most weak in FG% and REB.

As I always ask people who email me over at PitP, is your league on weekly or daily roster changes?

Weekly: You don't necessarily need to drop Andrew "Bye-bye"-num, unless of course you really need the diversity or strength on your bench for options. – schedule variance and all that.

Daily: Drop now. Actually drop yesterday! He is dead weight. Grab someone who can actually help out your team in FG and REBs. I like Luke and Buke but they don't help those cats you mentioned. Dice has been rebounding solid lately and so has Nick Collison. Check them out as replacements for Andrew.

What's up with Kobe? Andrew Bynum is gone and so on a whim, Kobe assumed Andrew would have scored about 20 if he was around so Kobe chips in Bynum's share of the load and adds the 41 he was already planning to post anyway! Sick! And isn't his pinkie still busted? Does that mean he would have score 81 if he was 100%?

I'd also consider how big your bench is. The more bench spots you have, the more likely I'd be to keep him.

Like Erik said, Collison is worth a look as is Jason Thompson. Tyrus Thomas has been playing well recently, but I'd be surprised if he can keep it up for more than a couple weeks.

      Kobe scares and confuses me…

I remember saying to my buddy 3 years ago when Kobe went for 81, watch in his next game, he'll be passing all over the place to show he's a good teammate. So I looked it up, and in his next game 5 days later, he had 8 assists – pure Kobe. If Kobe doesn't have at least 7 assists against the Raptors tomorrow, I'll be shocked. Makes me sad that Smitch and his no-need-to-double-Kobe self isn't still the coach of the Dinos.

It's games just like this one, that makes Kobe worth picking in the Top 5-6 zone. 20-20 from the line is like gg for the FT% matchup for the week, not to mention 61 points is just as if three guys who average 20 PPG played for your team! Sick!

Thanks guys, picked up Thompson. Yeah, I'm in a daily league with 3 bench spots, so had to drop him.
