Line of the Night: You may not remember because it came and went so fast, but there was a time not long ago when Peja Stojakovic (0.95) was one of the best fantasy players in the league. Yes, it’s true. While that fact is difficult to comprehend now, Peja can still flash some moments of excellence: it was a season high 28 points and 7-11 from three that gave him the top line of last night.
Honorable Mentions: Speaking of players who occasionally dust off their old bodies to deliver the goods, Grant Hill (0.84) scored 27 points off 12-17 shooting against the Golden State Warriors; and Danny Granger (0.82) hit 3 treys and scored 33 points, going a perfect 12-12 from the line.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Chris Andersen (0.84) played a huge (for him) 24 minutes yesterday and delivered (for him) with 13 points and 5 blocks. You can’t keep a birdman down as they say. Anderson is now averaging about a block every 2 seconds he’s on the court and is a worthy pickup if you’re in desperate need of blocks. As Brendan from 2nd Round Reach mentioned last week, he’s as one-dimensional as they come, but you can set your watch to his blocks.
With Chris Wilcox back to racking up DNPs and Nenad Krstic missing yesterday’s game, Nick Collison (0.71) took advantage, playing 34 minutes and finishing with 21 and 13. Collison is currently only owned in 45% of Yahoo leagues and despite playing through a broken thumb and splitting time at center with Krstic, he looks to be back to being the double-double machine that got him drafted in most leagues.
The Biggest Loser: Shaquille O’Neal (-0.58) appears pretty low on the list because of a 4-11 shooting performance and Greg Oden (-0.43) was horrible in his 16 minutes on the court, but the player I really want to call out is Kelenna Azubuike (-0.63). A game after scoring 25 points, Azubuike started, but was held scoreless in 14 minutes on the court. When he’s on, Azubuike can be a great scorer and three point shooter as well as a decent rebounder for his size. But here is what Don Nelson had to say about his game yesterday:
“I didn’t see him. Did you see him? He was missing in action.”
At this point, Azubuike is way too inconsistent to trust anywhere near your lineup.
All Eyez on Me: Miami (26-22) at Philadelphia (24-24) – Without Brand, the 76ers are back to kicking ass and taking names. Samuel Dalembert was strong in the Sixers last game, scoring 18 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. It’s exactly the type of performance that gets people all ramped up about Samuel Dalembert. But I’d be willing to get he goes under 10 boards today, Jamaal Magloire or no Jamaal Magloire.
Los Angeles (11-39) at Atlanta (29-20) – Al Horford is back after missing 12 games and he’s looking a little rusty, scoring 9 points with 10 boards in 2 games since returning. Still, the Clippers seem like the right time to get him back in your lineup.
Chicago (22-28) at Dallas (29-20) – LotN coming out of this game? Both the Bulls – led by Derrick Rose – and the Mavs – led by play-calling-master Jason Kidd – are running and gunning. The Bulls have gone over 100 points in each of their last 4 games and the Mavs had gone for 100+ in 6 straight games before their recent beat down by the Jazz.
