Line of the Night: With Chris Duhon sitting because of a sprained ankle, mighty Nate Robinson (1.64) stepped up for the Knicks and filled in adequately I’d say: 33 points, 9 boards, 15 assists, and 5 steals in an overtime loss to the Clippers. There are only two negative things about Robinson’s performance: he was 2-11 from three and it came against the Clippers. And although Robinson owners are secretly wishing evil against Duhon, he isn’t expected to miss any time beyond the all-star break.

    Nate Robinson

Honorable Mentions: Maurice Williams (1.5) celebrated his first all-star selection with career-high 44 points, adding 7 assists, 7 threes and 3 steals; and Manu Ginobili (1.0) scored 32 points, with 7 rebounds, 4 threes, and 3 steals in a Spurs loss.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Steve Novak (0.92) got an overtime-assisted 32 minutes off the bench for the Clippers and scored a career-high 23 points, with 7 boards. He’s been a little too streaky to recommend even when all the other Clippers’ big men were hurt, so leave him on waivers until… probably forever.

I never thought Jared Jeffries (0.71) would appear on anything other than the biggest loser section, but the Knicks threw out Jeffries on the court for 42 minutes and he actually was productive – 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. I’m going to say this becomes the performance of Jeffries career.

The Biggest Loser: Besides Tracy McGrady’s knees, which deserve a Biggest Loser lifetime achievement award? Ok, Ray Allen (-0.48) caught his thumb on Kendrick Perkins large, meaty jersey in yesterday’s Boston/New Orleans game. As a result, he left the game after only 19 minutes, going 0-3 from the field and finishing with 1 point and 1 rebound.

All Eyez on Me: In the last day of games before the break, the NBA throws 3 games at us, the best being Boston (43-11) at Dallas (31-20). Ray Allen is expected to play in this game after hyperextending his right thumb, which is good because the Celtics bench is atrocious. Jason Terry, on the other “hand”, isn’t so lucky. He’ll be out 3 to 6 weeks after having surgery to repair his broken right hand.

Portland (32-19) at Golden State (18-35) – Watch out now, Greg Oden is on a roll. And by that I mean he’s had 2 good games in a row, going for double-doubles against the Knicks and OKC. Why not make it a trifecta against the worst defense in the league?
