Line of the Night: I mean, come on… when Ronnie Brewer tops the night with a 0.74 after scoring 16 points and getting 4 steals, it brings a bad name to Line of the Night.
Honorable Mentions: Allen Iverson (0.73) should have had the LotN with his 31 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists. His shooting wasn’t as good as Brewer’s, but I mean, come on.
Matt Bonner (0.67) made 5 more threes and had 7 rebounds. If he can keep it up, he’ll be up there with Troy Murphy and Mehmet Okur as a top Small Ball Center.
Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Antonio McDyess (0.66) is up to 41% owned in Yahoo leagues (from 37% last time I checked). Do you want 13 rebounds? I could use that.
Also, time to pick up Spencer Hawes and Rafer Alston. They’re both owned in 60% of Yahoo leagues, so chances are, they’re not in your Free Agent pool, but it’s definitely worth checking. Especially for Hawes in keeper leagues.
Two guys who are below 30% owned are: Larry Hughes and Chris Wilcox. Both are headed to NYC where they’ll have the chance to take advantage of the Knicks huge number of possessions per game. It’s hard to say where Wilcox will fit in the with rotation of David Lee, Wilson Chandler, and Al Harrington. Hughes probably has a better chance for minutes, and his run-n-gun style should fit well with the Mike D’Antoni style if he can holster the leap-n-leaners at least a few times a game.
The Biggest Loser: Richard Hamilton (-0.33) had 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in 34 minutes. How does that happen? 34 minutes! Of course, teammate Tayshaun Prince (-0.24) was pretty close. He played 37 minutes and had 8 points and 9 rebounds. So, I guess he was busy getting all the rebounds while Iverson was getting the assists.
All Eyez On Me: If you’ve got anyone on the Bulls and can make daily changes, put them in before John Salmons, Tim Thomas, and Brad Miller arrive. From the Yahoo preview it sounds like those guys won’t be playing yet, so that means extra PT for those left on the roster.
Who’d have thought that Atlanta at Portland would feature two teams with records so close to the Hornets? Of course, tonight they’re overshadowed by that New Orleans team taking on the league-leading Lakers.
The Golden Ticket: Toronto is @ NY, so Shawn Marion should have a good chance to prove he’s on the road to resurgence. If he can’t do it against the Knicks, it may truly be the end of the Marion Era.
