Day 127 of 170: LeBron v. Wade

Line of the Night: Lebron James (1.48) out dueled Dwyane Wade (1.13) both in the world of fantasy and on the court in real life (a place I’d advise not visiting to often). LeBron shot 13-21 overall and 10-10 from the line to finish with 42 points, 8 boards, and 6 threes as the Cavs rallied from an 11-point deficit in the 4th quarter to beat Miami 107-100.

Honorable Mentions: Wade followed up his 46 point game on Saturday with a 41 point, 9 assist, and 7 steal performance. However, he also had 8 turnovers, which may have kept him from both the LotN and the win; Tim Duncan (1.03) had an 18/12/6 line with 3 steals and 2 blocks, which seems a little meh for the third best line, so we’ll stop there.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: JaVale McGee (0.72) has been on the edges of fantasy relevance ever since… I’m going to say January 22nd when he threw down an 18 and 9 against the Lakers. But since then, his playing time has been as inconsistent as my attendance record in college, rendering him unworthy of a pickup. However, with the Wizards having nothing to play for, the team has stated the young-uns will start to get more playing time. Unlike the Gilbert Arenas debacle, the Wiz seem to be telling the truth on this one as McGee saw 32 minutes in yesterday’s Wizards/Hawks matchup. He scored 14 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 3 shots.

It’s a Free Agent Festivus: Rasual Butler (0.57) went for 16 and 10 with 3 threes (would you pick him up already); With OKC missing Kevin Durant and Jeff Green due to injuries, Nenad Krstic (0.56) had his highest scoring game since 2006 with 26 points and 6 boards in 37 minutes; And a 16 and 12 game for James Posey (0.47) in only 27 minutes off the bench for the Hornets.

The Biggest Loser: There were no disastrous performances yesterday, so Mike James (-0.48) it is. James had 9 points, 4 boards and 3 assists, which seems ok for someone only owned in 4% of leagues, until you see he played 40 minutes and also shot 4-13 from the field. Thanks for playing Mike James. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out of the league in 2010.

Josh Smith (-0.54) also got no love from the player rater, despite scoring 13 points and grabbing 5 boards. I guess he was penalized for not being able to make free throws (1-5 on the night) and the 4 turnovers.

All Eyez on Me: Phoenix (34-25) at Orlando (43-16). Will I talk about every remaining Phoenix game in this section of the rundown for the rest of the year? Yes. Anyway, Shaq and company venture into Orlando to face Dwight Howard. How does Shaq feel about Superman? Quoting the Diesel:

“He’s a good player, but everything he’s done I’ve invented, so I’m not impressed.”

Denver (39-21) at Detroit (29-29) – Chauncey Billups returns to The Palace to play against the Pistons. Unfortunately, the man he was traded for, Allen Iverson, won’t be playing in the game. He’s missed the Pistons last 2 games with a back injury.

The Golden Ticket – Golden State (20-39) at Minnesota (18-41). First it was Jamal Crawford, then it was Stephen Jackson. So, which random Golden State vet will sit tonight? Possibly Corey Maggette or Andris Biedrins, but I don’t dare to try to get into the head of Don Nelson. It’s a scary place.

So Maggette is the random vet that is sitting tonight. Turiaf is also sitting but he is supposedly sick.

Yeah, Maggette seems like a guy who will get a lot of rest in this new Don Nelson system.
