Day 129 of 170: Dwyane Wade Just Burst into Flames

Line of the Night: If you’re getting tired of seeing Dwyane Wade (1.43) in this spot, that makes two of us (since I don’t actually have him in any leagues this year). Wade continues his absolutely insane play over the last month with 35 points (sadly, he didn’t go over 40), 16 assists, 6 boards, and 2 steals as Miami beat the Suns 135-129. If he keeps this up, we’re going to have a new number one overall fantasy player very, very soon.

Honorable Mentions: Rudy Gay (1.15) scored 35 on 12-22 shooting, adding 8 boards and a couple steals; and Deron Williams (0.99) had 26 points and 14 assists in a Jazz win.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Anytime a team goes for 135, you’re bound to have some unexpected surprises. I think Daequan Cook (1.04) qualifies. Cook came off the bench for the Heat to go 6-8 for three on his way to a career-high 27 points. Even though he got 27 minutes in this game, you probably want to stay away until he shows a little more consistency in his playing time as well as his game.

GMTR favorite Thabo Sefolosha (0.92) is starting for the injured Kevin Durant. Sefolosha got 38 minutes yesterday and again made the most of it with 15 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. Pick him up for at least the short-term and maybe longer if Durant is shut down.

The Biggest Loser: Marcus Camby (-0.48). Camby only played the first quarter of last night’s Clippers/Grizzles game because of a migraine headache. I respect the power of the migraine, I really do, but come on now. In 12 minutes, Camby was 0-2 from the field and finished with 3 points and 6 rebounds.

All Eyez on Me: Dallas (37-24) at New Orleans (37-22) – The Mark Cuban and his magic mouth come to the rescue again. Two days after being called out by Cubes after an embarrassing loss to OKC, the Mavs rolled San Antonio thanks to good performances by Dirk and Josh Howard. I’d expect the good times to continue, because who wouldn’t fear the wraith of this man:

Josh Howard and Mark Cuban

Portland (38-22) at Denver (39-22) – Carmelo Anthony is set to return from his one game suspension in tonight. In case you missed it, Melo questioned the authoritah of George Karl and paid the price for refusing to be subbed out of the game. And with Greg Oden expected to miss at least one more week with a bone chip in his left knee, it’s time to ride Joel, the man, the myth, the Przybilla. Joel has averaged 10 boards in the Blazers last 4 games.

A couple of games prior to Durant's injury, Sefolosha actually came into the starting side at SG replacing Weaver. While Durant is out, Thabo has moved to SF and Weaver back at SG.

All indications are that Thabo will keep his spot once Durant comes back, but I guess coaches can always change their minds :)
  • Thanks for the clarification andy. I do indeed remember seeing that while doing my extensive research on the Thunder, but it must have slipped my mind when writing the post. It's a good point though, cause it means we're likely going to see a lot of Thabo the rest of the year - KD or no KD.
