Line of the Night: With all the attention Dwyane Wade has been getting lately, Chris Paul (1.45) reminds us not to forget about him. He is – after all – still the best fantasy player in the league right now. Paul notched his league leading 6th triple-double (30/10/13) of the year, while adding 4 steals against the Wizards. Now that is a check you can take to the bank and cash for a fantasy championship.

    Chris Paul getting angry

Honorable Mentions: Kobe Bryant (1.17) didn’t let the cerebral Ron Artest slow him down. Kobe trashed talked his way to 37 points with 6 assists and 4 steals against Artest and the Rockets; Joe Johnson (0.93) had 31 points, 9 assists and 3 threes; and we at GMTR are now contractually obligated to mention Dwyane Wade (0.92) at least once in every post. Wade scored 32 points, with 7 assists and 4 steals against the Celtics.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: A shoutout to Antonio Mcdyess (0.87), who is technically owned in 53% of leagues, but with Rasheed Wallace out, he had the 5th best line of the night with 21 points and 22 rebounds. Wallace is day-to-day with a calf injury.

For a true free agent available in almost every league, check out Renaldo Balkman (0.59), who went for 14 and 14 yesterday against the OKC. Kenyon Martin sat out of the game with a lower back strain, so Balkman got 30 minutes for the Nuggets. Martin will probably be back for Denver’s next game on Saturday, but since he’s as sturdy as a drunk two-legged stool, keep an eye on the situation in case Martin misses significant time.

Biggest Loser: Rashard Lewis (-0.73), Ben Gordon (-0.72), and Derrick Rose (-0.55) all played like crap in the same game (sounds like it was a fun watch)! Gordon was 1-10 from the field, finishing with 4 points, while Rose was 2-12 and with 7 points with 3 assists. But Lewis wins the “prize” by going 0-9 from the floor, scoring 3 points in 24 minutes.

All Eyez on Me: The customary two NBA games tonight, starting with Los Angeles (51-13) at San Antonio (43-20) – a matchup between the teams with the two best records in the West (although they go about it in completely different ways). The Spurs will run without Manu or Drew Gooden, who are out with injuries while the Lakers will get Odom back after he served a one game suspension for a violation of time and space around the Lakers bench when they were in Portland. If his recent streakiness is a trend, expect Roger Mason to put up a dog of a game tonight after two good games in a row.

The late game is Cleveland (50-13) at Phoenix (34-30). Was Terry Porter the Suns problem? Or is it that they have a strange collection of players that don’t fit together in any coherent way? Anyway, the Suns look to break a five game losing streak tonight, although going against LeBron and the Cavs is not what I’d call a recipe for success.

Yeah, I watched the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the Bulls Magic game. It was truly awful. At least the Magic had some resemblance to a professional basketball team. They looked like they were playing against high schoolers.
