Line of the Night: A close line-off today between who else – Chris Paul (1.86), with 31 points off 11-15 shooting with 9 rebounds and 17 assists and Dwyane Wade (1.66), who dropped 55 on the Knicks, adding 6 threes, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. In the end, the almost-triple-double with the 17 assists comes out slightly ahead of the 55 points. But really, aren’t we all winners with Paul and Wade in our lives?
Honorable Mentions: Andrea Bargnani (1.11) blocked 6 shots; Michael Beasley (0.94) – ranked at number 170 on our rater – hasn’t really turned in the type of season that most people expected. But he has shown flashes of brilliance from time to time, like last night against the Knicks, where he put up a big double-double with 28 and 16. I have no idea where to draft this guy next season, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he blew up into a 20 and 10 guy. It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t either.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Kurt Thomas (0.46). With the Spurs looking to give Tim Duncan and his shotty knees a rest any opportunity they get, Thomas got the rare start at PF. He ended up grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking three shots in 35 minutes. That’s pretty much the upper limit of what we can expect from any Kurt Thomas performance.
The Biggest Loser: The Boston Celtics, for getting torn apart by the Cavs 107-76. Way to go into the playoffs on a strong note, guys. Ray Allen (-0.28) was the C’s biggest offender, shooting 2-8 on the night and finishing with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
All Eyez on Me: New Orleans (49-31) at Houston (52-28) – Both teams are still fighting for playoff position in the Western conference, which means we’ll see a lot of the starting 10 in this one (and a lot more Mutombo, If we’re lucky). Yao Ming, who missed the Rockets’ last game with a bruised right foot, is questionable for this one. That’s NBA speak for – if you bench him, he’ll play, but if you start him, he’ll sit.
Memphis (23-57) at Phoenix (44-36) – So, what do the Suns do next year? They have all their big names under contract except for Grant Hill. Do they just bring everyone back again and give it one more doomed try? Continue to try and move Amare? Ship Nash back to his home country and blow the whole thing up? It seems like a disaster any way you cut it.
The Golden Ticket: San Antonio (52-28) at Golden State (29-51) – While the Spurs would like to be in “rest it up for the playoffs” mode, the Southwestern Division on the line so Tim Duncan is expected to hobble back onto the court tonight. If it wasn’t for the matchup against the Warriors, Duncan would be benchable considering the way he’s been playing recently.
