Line of the Night: J.R. Smith (2.02) lit up the Kings for 45 points, going a crazy 11-18 from three (THREE!). He didn’t do much else, but you don’t have to when you hit 11 threes (a franchise record and one short of the league record). I believe it’s only the 3rd or 4th time this year someone’s game score from the previous night has broken the 2+ barrier. I don’t know about you, but I think it might be the threes.

Honorable Mentions: Danny Granger (1.24) couldn’t will the Pacers to a victory over the Cavs (who clinched the best record in the league with a win last night) but he ever so slightly outplayed LeBron James with a 38 point, 4 three, 5 rebound, 2 steal, 2 block performance; and Dirk Nowitzki (1.02) went 16-17 from the line, finishing with 34 points and 9 boards as the Mavs inched closer to the 6th seed in the West.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Might as well reserve this spot for the next few days for marginal Golden State Warriors who are now starting because the team has so many injuries. Anthony Randolph (1.06) was the one bright spot for the Warriors as they got thrashed by the Spurs. He got the start and scored 26 points, with 16 boards, 4 steals and a block.

The Biggest Loser: To say that Peja Stojakovic (-0.55) has not looked good recently would be a massive understatement. Since returning from an injury on April 3rd, he’s shot a dismal 36% from the field. Last night against the Rockets, he was even worse, going 1-7 from the floor and scoring 2 points with 1 board and 0 assists in 29 minutes on the court. Signs point to a quick exit from the playoffs for the Hornets.

All Eyez on Me: Tonight is a great night for basketball if you want to do some advanced scouting for the playoffs. There are three games, including Utah (48-33) at Los Angeles (64-17) – a possible first round playoff match-up – Miami (42-38) at Atlanta (46-34) – a definite first round playoff match-up – and Boston (60-20) at Philadelphia (40-40) – another potential first round match-up. And since a number of playoff seeds are still up for grabs, most of these teams will be trotting out their starters one more time, either to jokey for playoff position or because their too proud (or stupid) to do otherwise.
