With little else to talk about during these short summer months (unless you’re a big Jason Kapono fan) what better time than to introduce something I’ve wanted to do for a long time: The Fantasy Basketball Hall of Fame. What does that mean? It’ll hopefully end up as a group of the best fantasy players going back to the start of the three point era, voted on by GMTR readers. Just remember – an important man once said – with great power comes great responsibility. Don’t f*** this up.

So, how is this going to work?

    • The voting starts with the class of 2008, which will include players who retired or stopped playing after the 2007-08 season.*
    • After voting for the class of 2008, we’ll work our way backwards by class until we run out of available statistics for the players.
    • For now, much like the real NBA Hall of Fame, a player must receive 75% of the vote to be inducted. Since it’s generally impossible to get 75% of people online to agree about anything, this cutoff may be lowered if no one is getting in.

    The first vote is up.

*If anyone knows where I can get a list of player retirements by year, that would be awesome. I can’t seem to find on anywhere on the Internet.

Yeah, it's a shame the NBA didn't keep better stats back in the day like baseball. It'd be awesome to compare the fantasy careers of some of the all time greats with today's players.
