Line of the Night: Baron Davis (1.33) proves that he’s both still alive and that fantasy is much more than scoring. While Davis shot a very Baron Davis-like 6-18 from the floor on the night and finished with not very LotN worthy 17 points, the rest of his game was nearly flawless. He added 7 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 threes, 3 steals and a couple of blocks. The Clippers still got beat down by Durantula and company, which proves that fantasy isn’t all about winning either.

Honorable Mentions: Danny Granger’s (1.23) heel was good enough for 31 points and 16 boards, although he might want to not play 42 minutes every game if he wants to stay healthy; Mike Bibby (1.13) also proves he’s alive with 19 points and 9 assists (although did come against the Knicks); Charlie Villanueva (1.13) isn’t completely dead either as he scored a game high 30 on 13-17 shooting (Charlie has a whopping 1 assist on the season, it came in the first game of the year); and don’t bury Channing Frye (1.09) just yet. The big fella pulled down that classic big man line of 3 threes and 3 blocks; finally Brandon Jennings (0.99) has been berry, berry good his rookie season. The kid scored 32 points with 9 assists to lead the Bucks over the Nuggets.

Waiver Wire Line of the Night: Ersan Ilyasova (0.89). As the Carlos Delfino and Hakim Warrick experiments begin to unravel, the Bucks forward has slowly seen his playing time rise. Last night, Ilyasova got a season high 22 minutes (to Delfino’s 13) and finished with 17 points, 8 boards and 3 threes. That type of stat line is a legit one for Ilyasova and if can carve out a consistent 25+ minutes a game on the Bucks (by no means a given), he’s worth an add.

You also might want to take a long, hard look at Earl Watson (0.84). TJ Ford left last night’s Pacers game in the first half with back spasms and Watson stepped into his shoes to finish with 16 points, 6 boards and 3 threes. Probably goes without saying that you want to pick Watson up faster than Hugh Hefner picks out new girlfriends if Ford is out for any long period of time.

The Biggest Loser: Russell Westbrook’s (-0.69) 2 points (on 1-11 shooting), 2 boards and 3 assists was good for the second worst game score of the night (slightly ahead of Jrue Holiday (-0.69) and his 4 minutes on the court). He got hurt during the game when Marcus Camby stepped on his ankle, so that might have a little to do with his bad performance. It’s nothing to be worried about given Westbrook’s nice start to the season.

Dwight Howard (-0.51) had a very empty 11 and 7 against the Big Shaqtastic and the Cavs. It didn’t help his fantasy owners or the Magic that he was 5-13 from the line either.

All Eyez on Me: The NBA’s customary two Thursday games.

Cleveland (5-3) at Miami (6-1) – LeBron vs. Wade! Or maybe more position appropriate, LeBron vs. Quentin Richardson! Wade vs. Anthony Parker! That doesn’t have quite the same ring. But speaking of Richardson, his fast start to the year hit a major pothole in the Heat’s last game, as he scored no points on 0-2 shooting in 33 minutes against the Wizards this past Tuesday. This was destined to happen to Richardson, who has been a model of inconsistency his entire career. I’d personally just get rid of him now before the stank affects the rest of your team.

Phoenix (8-1) at Los Angeles (6-1) – Will Carroll chimes in on the Pau Gasol injury (via Silver Screen and Roll). Basically, don’t expect him back anytime soon. Better news for Andrew Bynum owners however. He should be back for this game after missing the Lakers’ last two.

For Laker blog...I would still put forum blue and gold ran by kurt as the best basketball blog out there, for NBA in general, definitely Dwyer
  • I haven't actually read SS&R, so I can't say anything about the quality - I just liked the name. I read FB&G for a while and it was very good.

Whenever I see Baron Davis, all I can think of is him messing around with the Zohan.
